M3 resolution is more than M2's
M3 has KitKat installed and has lollipop update available
M2 has Jelly Bean installed and has KitKat update available but lollipop update is still under consideration for m2
M3 internal memory is 8gb M2's is 4gb
M3 can handle memory card upto 128gb M2 can handle 32gb maximum.
M2 is bigger in size but has lighter weight than M3
M3 is new while M2 is old. New things are nice and sweet

The duo have 8gb internal storage

I have not seen the m3 though, but i like the screen feel of the m2.

Maybe i will try and lay my hands on the m3 to before i choose

I need the contact of someone in Lagos or Ibadan that can help me root my gionee m2 and also tweak the imei number to enable me use glo blackberry sub on it. I am presently in Lagos.

Yes. That's the ultimate. Make sure the stock rom is the version on it before it bricked. That's JB for JB and KK for KK. I hope you understand.

If you were the one that used the phone before then you should know.
If you haven't upgraded it since you bought,
You've not flashed any ROM or anything to change the ROM that came with the phone since you bought it then you should flash JB stock rom it will solve the problem.
