I'm very eagerly waiting to hear from those who hated Jonathan's admin but loves Igbos or vice versaI disliked (I don't hate) Jonathan's administration because of its incompetence and cluelessness but I love Igbos...some of my best friends around the world are Igbos..so, nothing can' make me hate Igbos...forget about what goes on on NL. Having said that, I understand why it's easier for other people from other parts of the country to be angry with 'some' Igbos for their what I termed ' blind support' for Jonathan, just like the Ijaws did. It's one thing to support someone when they're doing right, it's another thing to support someone even when they're doing wrong things. Moreover, it's a fact that, many Yorubas were at the fore front of the war against the cabal in order for Jonathan to become president. Many put their lives at risk. This is why people believe it's unfair to say the Igbos love GEJ more than other Nigerians hence, the 'hating'. Like others have said, GEJ used a very dangerous divide and rule method to govern the country e.g religion, ethnicity, tribalism and what have you. Criminals and other AGIPs were giving national awards and recognitions just for been loyal to the president while those that sincerely fought for him and prayed for him to succeed were trampled upon. OBJ himself will confess that his people-the Yorubas (even his kinsmen) were his biggest critics during his 8years in office. I never heard the Yoruba people say "he's our son so he can do whatever he likes, we'll still support him" like the ijaw and some igbo did. So, Nigerians generally believes that same should apply to Jonathan but unfortunately, this wasn't so because anyone whosoever criticise GEJ was labelled as an enemy. The Ijaws started the propaganda and unfortunately, a lot of Igbos joined this propaganda and the rest as they say, is history. |

@OP: The Igbos majorly backed Jonathan (even more than the Ijaws) because they felt they he was doing relatively well (not excellent) as at then. The APC however, brought in the tribal card to instigate hatred against both Jonathan, the Igbos and even any Yoruba/Hausa that aligned with Jonathan (eg Jimi Agbaje). Read between the line and find your answer. NB: APC is distinct from Yoruba and Hausa tribes (I hope people don't misunderstand me) |

These loudmouthed dumbasses should direct such placards to the federal government of Nigeria to create “Lagos” in Igbo land. Anybody who is not a fool in Nigeria knows Yari.ba did not and never created Lagos. |

barcanista:Thanks for your input sir I noticed that The Yorubas, Hausas and even Igbos that seem to haul insults at Jonathan are the same ones that are anti-Igbo(At least on this forum) Example Joe Igbokwe(an Igbo man) will stop at nothing to insult his kinsmen for voting Jonathan. The last article I read from him were full of indirect insults for Igbos. Some Yorubas even supported Oba Akiolu n dr Ariyo for calling for genocide on Igbos. One thing remain in common with these set of people: They all hate(d) Jonathan also. (Judging by their comments) Does one have to take a swipe at Igbos to show loyalty for this govt and vice versa? Is there a chance that those two are mutually exclusive |

AuntySusan:While Mbaka and Ngige exist, they are treated with scorn by many SE especially her on NL While in SW and North PDP and GEJ enjoyed major support, some > 25% of votes in 2015 and many people in SW want nothing with Buhari and APC. They are Objective enough. The SE and SS put all their eggs in one basket with PDP You can compare the broad political spectrum within the SW or even the North to the myopic one-trick pony ideals of the SE, even the APGA which should have a dominance don't |

AuntySusan:The reason the Igbos are the prominent target for HATE by the APC is because they are the only of the three major tribes that majorly supported Jonathan. To the APC it was legitimate for them to hate Jonathan and his supporters. In summary, the Igbos are hated by the APC because they support(ed) Jonathan. |

Igbo's are undoubtedly the most hated tribe in Nigeria from independence, for the Igbo it is just plain envy and they do not hesitate to rub it on your face..reference how the civil war started. The north sees any non-northerner as another person so they never believed in GEJ. .when the time came to remove him with the help of ACN, the propaganda masters activated the tribal card by branding GEJ igbo...thereafter, it was a smooth ride. The hatred for GEJ was not just of competence issues because OBJ's tenure in my honest opinion was not any better. The reason why we will continue having issues as a nation is that we have refused to tell ourselves the truth, we are sitting on a faulty foundation. The system is wrong ..and we need to renegotiate our existence as a nation. |

psychu:You're not the first person to allude to the bolded on this thread If Jonathan is tagged igbo simply because he's neither Hausa nor Yoruba, does that mean Nigeria only recognizes three tribes? If it is about tribe, what tribe is Jonathan? What happens to other tribes in the southern part of Nigeria? What's their place in Nigeria politics? |

Let me help break it down for you though they will certainly tag me a tribalist Southwest has no problem with Easterners in three strata - Social, Religion and Culture but not so when Economic and Political supremacy are at stake The Core Northern Muslims don't have problem with the Easterners in terms of Socio-cultural dimensions but there is a religiously problem when the population of Easterners increase to a level they are considered a threat for their control. It is believed that Easterners control trade and commerce, the West controls the Economy, the North controls Political Power while the domination in Federal public service is shared between the North and their Western counterparts. The Population of Easterners outside their domain is a threat to both the West and the North as at today because the Easterners have increased to demand a share of political power in the West relative to their population hence the insecurity being exhibited by the Westerners through open and media confrontation on anything the Easterners represent, Economic and Political wise. The Westerners hate competition hence they are good in eliminating any trace of it hence they will attack the Easterners through petition writing, propaganda, lies and outright threat to get them off their "perceived birthright" in Nigeria. The Core-North with their numbers are not much under threat by the population of the Igbos in their domain because of the political structure they put in place to checkmate such occurrence, however, the Easterners are challenging the status-quo using their academic advantage where they produce astute technocrat of international repute to challenge the Northern and Western domination in public services and unelected political offices hence the hatred. Prior to Goodluck Jonathan's administration after the civil war, the Easterners have been compensated with less important political portfolios and no where near top military echelons but Jonathan broke the rules of the game by giving few Easterners who served under him the more juicy political position/appointments than their counterparts which elicited the envy, hatred and treachery against him and the Easterners who are perceived as usurpers. In summary, the Southwest don't want the Easterners to challenge their control of National Economy nor are they allowed to venture into politics in the West irrespective of their numbers (which of course is a political weapon in a democracy) outside their traditional Southeast. The North hates the Igbo for using their scholarly advantage to usurp or challenge Northern domination in national politics and control of civil/public service. The Easterners have their fault but since it is not covered by the cope of your research, I keep it for another day. I believe you can pick one or two things from my submissions to aid your research. |

I dont see any reason why GEJ should be hated as a person if not for political reason which is normal in politics. If yoruba hate Jona, he could not have gotten over 40% of votes in Yoruba land despite his alleged favoritism in his political appointment. Ask yourself op,does igbo like Hausa and Yoruba when it comes to politics? As regards to monica in NL we have seen a lot of monica created by the igbos to bash yorubas and her leaders. |
| Re: Attention!!!!!!!!!!!Any Correlation Btw The Hate For Jonathan And That For Igbos by Deltagiant: 11:39pm On Aug 11, 2015 |
AuntySusan:It was simply the unintended convergence of different interests. North suddenly lost power to the South South after Yardua's death. The grudge that Jonathan took over power never left them till date. On the other hand, the Igbo stood for GEJ resulting in the re-emergence of the old Eastern region (in spirit). This was a threat the north in particular could not take kindly. A strong and united eastern region with presidential power was/is not good for 'one Nigeria' crude oil. The 'hatred' aspect was largely the handiwork of the Yoruba. They spearheaded the PR. For the Yoruba, the Igbo have been an old rival. Perceived to be better placed than them in the administration of GEJ. Of which that a resurgent Eastern Nigeria business environment is not in the Yoruba interest. Lagos must remain the maritime, aviation and business corrridor of the Nigeria arrangement. Therefore, Jonathan must be booted out at the end of his first term before all ships coming into Ngeria were diverted to the Eastern ports. It was also important for the yoruba that all International airports in the Eastern region be politically checkmated. Like i said, it was the unintended convergence of interests to maintain the status quo. But the disadvantage of this type of situation is that it makes violent change inevitable. |

sweetgala:1)How much respect does Fayose enjoy from Yoruba including elites like falana, Soyinka simply because he's pro PDP?...Hypocrisy defines most of you here... 2)Facts are sacred bro...Yoruba have proven beyond reasonable doubt to be chief tribalists in Nigeria and can NEVER vote anybody outside their tribe in elections...Otherwise can you compare Obj 4years and Jonathan 4years ...yet Yoruba supported Obj for 2nd term notwithstanding buhari was contesting...3)Let me end by showing you how Yoruba has been voting along tribal line since independence (facts are sacred bro)...Quit denigrating other tribes especially Igbo to cover your lies and ethnic bias... The South-West zone has 14,296,163 registered voters, which represents 19.44% of the total number of voters nationwide. In terms of national electoral strength, the zone is number 2. Taking into account the electoral behaviour of the South-West since independence, the zone has proven itself, without exception, of incapable of voting anyone other than its own. In the 1st Republic, it voted mainly Action Group in favour of Chief Obafemi Awolowo with about 69% voters’ turnout. In the 2nd Republic, it voted 78.75% of its total votes cast for UPN in favour of Chief Awolowo, with 70% voters’ turnout. In the June 12, 1993 presidential election, the pattern was repeated more or less the same, except that the total percentage of SDP’s votes in favour of Chief MKO Abiola rose up to 84.5% in the zone. In the 1999 presidential election, mainly because the only two candidates for the presidency were both from the South-West, the zone’s voters’ turnout was abysmally low (48.09%) with about 68% of the votes cast to APP in favour of Chief Olu Falaye. 2003 also recorded poor voters’ turnout with 71% of votes cast for Obasanjo’s PDP. In 2011, with no Southwestern candidate fielded by any of the major parties, the South-West voted PDP when a functional alliance with the CPC failed to field in Sen. Tinubu or his nominee. Besides, with the vicious experience of AD in 2003 when the PDP Federal Government uprooted its governments in five states of the zone, the South-West cannot now afford to risk having an opposition PDP government at the federal level again; certainly not after the hard pains and toils of forming the APC. It is therefore existential for the South-West to vote APC at the presidential election. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/politics/50349-2015-presidential-election-how-and-why-pdp-will-lose |

change49ja:Sometimes, I wonder what most of you gain by being myopic and standing truth on its head...smh...Let me show you VERY clear examples of blind support... 1)Can you compare Jonathan 4yrs and Obj 4yrs...yet Yoruba supported Obj for 2nd term... 2)Yoruba confronted Obj only when they had another candidate on platform of AD... 3)If Yoruba including their elites could support Aregbesola(APC) notwithstanding the situation in Osun but confront Fayose(PDP) who has a far better economy in his state of Ekiti...what does it tell you ...4)If Soyinka would be angry with Gbenga (PDP) for locking down legislature for 1year even after he's left office...but celebrate Amechi(APC) who locked down judiciary and legislature for close to 3years...what would you call it ...5)Buhari gained popularity in the north because of his stance on sharia in late 2000...and has maintained such ever since...he has an unequalled record in ethnic and religious biased issues...even as president now...but enjoys support of your likes...isn't it blind support ...Can you compare him to Jonathan in terms of such negative record?6)If criticism of Jonathan attracts you the label of enemy alone(No political assassination or single record of political exile; no other Nigerian leader has this record) but criticism of Obj attracts political assassination(death)... which is worse?...but Yoruba still supported Obj... 7)Which media did Ijaw or Igbo use in the propaganda ... Punch, PremiumTimes, Leadership, Osundefender, TheNation, LindaIkeji, Tvc, Saharareporters or which one ... |

Op...this is my submission... 1)Jonathan had Ebele in his name hence was tagged Igbo... by Hausa and Yoruba...hence shared in age long hatred for Igbo... 2)Jonathan committed the crime of appointing Igbo(Ihejirika)...to such office which was hitherto a taboo or no go area for them...Remember, the outcry and threat that culminated in removal of Ihejirika... 3)Jonathan was seem as instrument of reemergence of Igbo into political forum by Hausa and yoruba...an unwritten taboo since 1966 coup d'etat...hence was hated and brought down...A Jonathan building seaport down Akwaibom will collapse Lagos...a taboo...A Jonathan having 2nd term will discourage ease of 2016 census; oil block licensing...etc which may benefit others more than North... a taboo...A Jonathan brought Confab which is seen as anti-north...a taboo...and so many other "crimes" of a Jonathan the supposed "Igbo" in Ijaw cloak... 4)Same people that insult Jonathan claiming bad governance... eulogize and support Osun notwithstanding it's almost a dead state... 5)Forget the corruption story...you must give a dog a bad name to hang it...such is life...Remember Obama used same propaganda against Gadaffi and invaded Libya...how's Libya today?...where's the nuclear weapon and other stuff that Obama claimed they have evidence for ... |

Ichieboxy:I really appreciate this sir Not only that you've said a lot, you provided a link to buttress your points. I must confess my research so far agrees with number 4 not necessarily because Osun but some other states too, even at the federal level. I mentioned on another post that pro Buharists have not seen anything wrong with whatever Buhari has said or done so far, but the opposition has complained about lots of it. Funny enough, those opposition are seen as Igbos and insulted. No one is perfect, and criticizing his moves (as the need arises) shouldn't attract hatred rather help the government make a better decision to correct the wrongs. So far If the comments I see on nl is anything to go by, then I can safely say that pro Buharists are doing exactly the same thing they accuse Igbos of doing during GEJ's regime. |

ERockson:Thank you sir But there were still some Igbos that didn't support GEJ. Don't you think they'll be offended seeing the bolded. Because they're few doesn't mean they should be overlooked. But it seems ALL Igbos are seen as GEJites because majority chose to vote GEJ. Are u able to list his appointments so I can take a look at the tribal distribution pls so I can make some comparison Thanks again |

change49ja:My take is that if Igbos are guilty of supporting Jonathan's every move, pro Buharists are already guilty of same. Personally there are one or two things so far that Buhari has done that may not be right, but I'm yet to see how many pro Buharists that don't defend each of them. So dont u think u lack the moral right to condemn Igbos for doing exactly the same thing u're doing today? No? That's btw though So are u saying Igbos are hated because of Jonathan Or Jonathan is hated because of Igbos? |

AuntySusan:Thanks dear... An undisputed bitter truth is that last election was won and lost by religion and ethnicity... Hypocrisy reigns today...Same people that wants you to respect buhari insulted and keeps insulting Jonathan... Same people that bastardized Nigeria repackaged buhari who's being part of the problem since 1967 to lead again... Same people that never supported Jonathan in fighting insurgency wants to be supported in same... Same people that vilified Jonathan in his quest to get other countries to support fight against insurgency now sleep in foreign countries always wanting same support... Same people that bastardized Nigeria congregated in APC chanting change and waving broom in broad daylight which is occultic in my place...Is there any new face to governance and government of Nigeria in APC ...NONE!!!Nigeria is still running in circle...Because the problem is in the structure not in the faces...Eg Diezani came from shell and was and is still vilified by those who her administration didn't favour...and they sponsor different lies against her person and office while haters absorb it immediately... because it reinforces their bigotry and justifies their hatred...Buhari came now and appointed Ibechukwu from Exxommobil; wait and see how he will be vilified too by those his administration won't favour...Remember nobody questioned Obj who pocketed the office during his reign...So why is NNPC this problematic?... it is because of defective structure not defective persons as we wrongly assume... Hypocrisy and lies thrive in this land...thanks my dear and success in your studies... |

So i take it youre pretending all the hate and bullshit igbos spew at other tribes on this forum, facebook, their radio biafra, various newsites comment sections is no biggie huh? I cant open a single Vanguard article without seeing a flood of hate comments from igbos (and i know theyre igbo because they got their biafra flag as their pic ) or simply the name (for ldiots who comment with their facebook profiles). If theres any hate being thrown at igbos then its practically a mirrored one. The originators of such hate is debatable but as far as im concerned you get the same treatment your fellows dish out on others so dont even try to play the victims here. |
