Depends on the jurisdiction and what offense has been committed. There is a new law Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 that provides a guide and the factors to consider before going into a plea bargain agreement. You may want look it up |

victorix:a murder case has no plea bargain - u can only get a life sentence in place of death by hanging. If its manslaughter then u may one day be freed on parole after serving some years out of the total years of incarceration. |
