@Abagworo,

Long before you and your principals began primary school, Okigwe, Oguta and Orlu were already designated urban centres in Imo state, including Owerri.

You, your Principals declare any part of my urban town a village, declare other urban areas of Imo state outside Owerri as village. This is a trick in use to divert monies that should have gone to provide infrastructure in other parts of Imo state that fall outside the state capital.

With the remaining monies, your principals engage in window dressing developments in Owerri.

Una still de scratch at Concord Hotel built four decades ago and present it as development projects.

Look at Anambra, Enugu, Delta, and even Abia states. Each of these states have many sprawling urban cities being provided with government infrastructure outside the state capital, many of these states even have more than three cities which the state government provides for, as well as for rural areas.

But your principals reduce Imo state to Owerri, scratch one or two roads outside the state capital, yet abandon them going to four years now. Now call them village roads - perhaps not worth more attention.

@Abagworoa: we as citizens must make unbiased criticism against our govt. It is our patriotic responsibility. Truth be told Rochas needs to step up. Awo idemili to Orlu road is a mess. Anara to Umuahia road is a mess. I ply these roads regularly. What we need is not free education but quality education. We don't need 27 new general hospitals but functional hospitals even if it is one a every senatorial zone. We are not asking for much. We only need good roads, electricity,water,affordable health care,security and quality n functional education. Rochas is working but he needs to do more.

I keep wondering the prerogative in wasting millions of nairas renovating Concorde hotel, when a wonderful initiative such as Prince and Princess hotel is left to rot away. If not selfishness and greed what stops Rochas from partnering with Sheraton, just like Akpabio. Must Rochas interest come first before that of Ndi Imo.
Rochas should complete his abandoned projects. That was what he was voted for. His poser boy stunts with Mbakwe's legacies should seize.
Spend a few million Naira to rework some part of Concord Hotel Owerri;
Owerri cannot ask for the monies earmarked by this government for Princess Hotel Okigwe and Prince Hotel Orlu, because they are villages.

Build smaller Ikemba and Freedom Squares in Owerri;
so that Owerri shall not bother to ask questions about the monies earmarked by this government for modern stadiums in Okigwe and Orlu.

As the current hardship continues, people shall ask questions more and more.

You people fought him and said that building new hotels was a waste as Imo has booming private sector hotel. He wanted to rent Concorde out and you people fought him saying that it is 419 Now he has gone ahead to renovate it and you are back to why he should build more government owned hotels. Tufiakwa! Orlu has really changed amazingly. I have pictures of Orlu in 2012 and pictures of Orlu in 2014 to prove my point.

Here is what Orlu looked like as at 2012

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Abagworo(m): 7:11pm On Aug 16, 2015
Orlu recently. The change is much.

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Abagworo(m): 7:23pm On Aug 16, 2015
Whoever saw these and still claim Okorocha did nothing in Orlu is insincere. This is still Orlu and fortunately one can easily spot that green 2 storey building from 2012 photo.

Hold it -
before you start to reproduce those your pics of about 4 km of urban roads attempted by Okorocha government in Orlu. Most of them remain uncompleted after four years. You started to produce the pics since 2012;

I should have had no business talking about Okorocha government that doesn't seem to understand the necessity for government to provide citizens with pipe borne water;

if not for Okorocha's unimaginable action of ruining Orlu sports stadium immediately he became governor, and made youths from the area remain inactive since he became governor,
even if I am not from Imo state, I shall say Tufiakwa over that cruel act.

if not for Okorocha government scrapping some once navigable roads in Orlu and abandoning them in the last four years, I wouldn't have time to waste talking about his government anymore;

because I have since known the destination of Okorocha government.

Jonathan is history, while Rochas is the present. And please spare us that party sentiments, we no longer want to hear it. Our people returned Owelle back to Douglas house not because he was in APC, but because they wanted him to finish the project he had started. So, are you now saying we should keep mute when he spends billions of naira's on cosmetic projects. By the way how many of this projects has he even completed? So we shouldn't criticize the contract scams awarded to his quack firms and cronies. So because he is in the good books of APC then we should hail him when he fails to pay salaries of civil servants. Even more, when his economic policies seek to Rochasnalize major stake in state owned industries, while alienate major investors from tapping into the investment potentials of the state.

Please list those projects awarded to his cronies, the sites and the amounts involved and not propaganda. Jonathan fought investors from coming to Imo State using federal might. The Egbema power plant was stalled by Jonathan just like the Owerri-PH road. I believe the difference will be clear now that the tyrant has been pushed off. I love constructive criticisms like mine. Do not write like an ignoramus. State the investments he rochanised.

Like I wrote, Okorocha is human and definitely has many flaws but he is a good man and has sacrificed a lot to do much.

Even if he reconstructs 90% of roads, you will still claim 10% is undone. Typical of Jonathanians or the wailers.

More from your so called scrapping 4km. I agree on the pipe borne water part. I wish all Nigerians could use that same zeal to demand for water Nationwide.

Lol. So what is wrong with leasing of Adapalm? And again don't quote trumpeter or other tabloids and their junkies. Propaganda is different from reality. Don't quote anything from Tanoids. Say what you know and can personally verify.

Imolites To Okorocha Where Is N3bn Roche Paid For Adapalm? As Federal Govt UBE Inscription Appears on Roche Proto-type School Blocks

The recent discovery by residents of Imo State that the much acclaimed 365 prototype schools being built across the state by the Owelle Rochas Okorocha government have Universal Basic Education, UBE inscription on them has raised uproar and doubt about the earlier statements of the governor concerning the Rescue Mission project.
Governor Okorocha has not ceased to publicly announce and inform Imolites that the privatization of state-owned down stream sector and multi million naira Adapalm oil settlement to an Irish company named Roche has yielded enormous dividends to the state. According to Okorocha who spoke during several addresses to the people especially annual budget presentations reportedly claimed that Imo state government realized the sum of N3bn from concession of Adapalm
Further details however from the verbal claims of the governor indicated that the amount was being used for the construction of Roche-type of classroom blocks in each of the 306 INEC wards in Imo state. The fashionable Roche-type of Classroom is a pre-cast building government sited on roads for public eyes. Even as the process of selling Adapalm public firm was shrouded in secrecy with suspected under-the-table-practices, until Gov Okorocha opened up.
While Roche undertook the building of the classy city schools on Whetheral Road formerly known as Township Primary School, other school projects started across the state still remain unfinished. However, midway the Roche-type precast school blocks stopped and gave way to normal building handled by private contractors. The change of guard in handling of the projects and differences sent alarming signals about the sincerely of the Okorocha’s Rescue Government. As residents of the state were confused about the change of guard handling the school projects, indications that state governments’ claim of building the school blocks from Roche payment through leasing Adapalm could be a ruse manifested when UBE inscriptions appeared on the walls of the pre-cast buildings scattered across the state.
Our correspondents who engaged in monitoring of the projects noted the trademark of UBE on the walls thereby doubting the earlier claims of governor Okorocha who told Imolites that the cost of the building was borne by the money realized from allowing Roche cater for Adapalm.
Trumpeta learnt that the UBE trademark has to be stamped by the state government to avoid sanctions from the federal government education body who threatened to withdraw from related fundings the state had enjoyed earlier. It was even gathered that agents of the government responsible for handling the project were at the verge of being arrested by anti-graft bodies over mismanagement of UBEC funds made available to the state since Okorocha came into power.
The outgoing Commissioner of Finance of Imo state, Deacon Chike Okafor who has been a regular visitor to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC office, Abuja to explain issues concerning Imo financial situation once told newsman that part of the monies the Ohakim administration left in office was channeled into free education. It would be recalled that Ohakim had publicly disclosed that he left not less than N3bn in the state’s UBEC treasurer.
The recent discovery that the acclaimed Roche-type pre cast project is UBEC money from federal government and not proceeds from the privatization has elicited reaction from the general public.
A teacher in one of the public primary schools who refused to disclose his identity observed that the latest development is in contrast with the claims of the governor adding that Okorocha should publicly tell Imolites where the money he claimed to have been realized from Adapalm sale went to when UBEC, a federal government agency has claimed ownership.
Majority of Imolites who spoke to Trumpeta especially civil servants at the state secretariat on Port Harcourt road opined that the inscription of UBE on the Roche-type school projects has rubbished Okorocha’s claim of using Adapalm money to finance the projects. The workers demanded for further explanation on how much was realized and how it was spent if the governor deserves moral right to speak to Ndi Imo on his most cherished free education. They however added that Ohakim’s claim of leaving billions of naira in office which Okorocha government inherited is a fact after all.
Imo workers expressed regret that while there are deductions from their monthly salaries to prosecute the free education, the governor keeps claiming that the sale of Adapalm to Roche for a number of years yielded dividend used in bankrolling free education including the remnants of the Bond Ohakim said he left in Imo Coffers.

Rochas is really disappointing those who voted for him. The kind of stories i have been hearing so far is not pleasant to the ears. From owing of salaries and unpaid monies to contractors and abandonment of rural roads and low quality of roads,people seem not to be happy with him including me.

Too bad!
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Abagworo(m): 8:18pm On Aug 16, 2015
I think we are done with argument about the schools as that was election propaganda by PDP. The elections have come and gone. What is left now is to support the Government to try their best. Fighting Okorocha and Buhari will only bring further underdevelopment to Igbos.

When some of us were busy screaming about the state of federal roads under Jonathan, Igbos were busy fighting Okorocha and APC. Today APC have won both in Imo and Nigeria. To benefit from this victory, we have to support Buhari like we did Jonathan but criticise him when necessary. Thats my take or we end up wasting another 4 years fighting against moving train.

I would not call rochas a failure but governing a state like Imo one has to be careful about the proclamations one makes as a leader and your conduct because the indigenes can easily discern when they are being taken fir a ride

I remember complaining about how rural roads in Imo state are very narrow and some of them substandard. Twice this year I traveled to my village,i can't help but marvel at the rural roads i passed from Okija in Anambra state to Isseke in Ihiala. I don't think we have that kind of quality rural road in Orlu. On getting to Orsu LG,the road is a total mess.

Please may i know the contractors who handle rural road projects in Anambra state?

How can I come when Jonathan cut us off from the Southeast? You cannot go to Aba or Owerri from Port Harcourt.

As for the UBEC nonsense we argued that before election. It was a propaganda which failed to yield positive result.

Like I wrote you cannot expect anything positive by fighting a moving train. It will only lead to further destruction. Bayelsans have joined APC massively and Igbos are busy trying to disrupt governance because of a failed Bayelsan who did nothing for Imo State. Here is a list of federal roads that transverse the State and it is left for you to judge.

1) Owerri- Port Harcourt Road

2) Ihiala- Anara Road via Orlu, Nkwerre, Amaigbo etc.

3) Onitsha- Okigwe Road via Arindizuogu

4) Owerri-Umuahia road via Mbaise etc

5) Owerri-Orlu road which Okorocha is trying slowly to fix

6) Owerri-Aba road

These roads cut through many towns and villages. Its been long I passed them but why were Igbos quiet about their state?

Here in Rivers the story is same. Akwa Ibom and Cross River is same. Amaechi cried and Okorocha cried but Igbos attacked them.

I have told you many times never bring up Jonathan and buharis issue with me because I never talked about presidential elections before it was held as I concentrated myself to Imo and abia elections..if fg refused to do what they were supposed to do in Imo during Jonathan's time then that's bad but that will not stop me from criticizing okorocha where he is messing up before or now just because I cannot stop a 'moving train'...if you do not know it is projects and policies he has done in Imo that his fellow contestants in apc vying 2019 presidential slot with him (yes I know that is where your mind is) would use against him and I doubt Imo people being who they are would shield him at that time..as for propaganda that failed to yield report it still puts a question mark on the so called adapalm money realised for school projects..i doubt you really know what is brewing in Imo now..just pray that okorocha changes his perception now going forward.

Maybe you should go write Okorocha a personal letter with regards to that. When Buhari fixes the Port Harcourt - Owerri Road, I will travel and see with my own eyes.

However bare it in mind that Government is not all about road. Accessibility is the most important thing in terms of road but education is equally very important and like you earlier pointed out pipe borne water and then shelter and then health.

Radio Biafra is brewing. I am not related to Okorocha anyway and I can never gain anything personally from him but I maintain my stand that his problems are related to his political affiliations. It is however not in the interest of Imolites and Igbos to fight him to non performance.
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Nobody: 8:56pm On Aug 16, 2015
Let me state categorically here that I have no intention of witch hunting Rochas Okorocha administration. I'm only out to prove some salient issue many of us had discarded during the last election. To be fair, I never casted my vote for Okorocha. Even though I returned home during the last election. My choice candidate was Captain Iheanacho of APGA , and I wholeheartedly voted for him. However, Ihedioha's PDP was a no go area for me. It was more like in between the devil and the deep blue sea.
Some of the reasons below are what prompted me not to vote for Rochas, even before this writer had come up with this article.

MANY REASONS WHY EMPEROR ROCHAS MUST NOT BE RE-ELECTED
By I. Iwuoha
This is Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha's score card. There are still a lot of areas where he has failed woefully, but below are the few I can remember for now:
1. Owing of retired staff of Imo Broadcasting Corporation more than 42 months arrears of pensions and gratuities and retired primary school teachers more than 12 months of pensions.
2. Owing of more than 8 months arrears of salaries to staff of General Hospitals and Imo Transport Company Illegal Dissolution of Elected Local Government Councils.
3. Legalized abortion in Imo State
4. Illegal Suspension/Retirement of Permanent Secretaries and public Servants.
5. Demolition of Houses in Owerri, Orlu, Okigwe, Anara, Amaraku etc without due process and non-compensations to victims of demolition.

7. Illegal trespass into Area ‘K’ Land belonging to Amawom Owerri people when the matter is still in court.
8. Illegal acquisition/revocation and trespass to land belonging to Umuguma and Naze people in Owerri.
9. Illegal Dissolution of Town Unions in all the Autonomous Communities in Imo State as against the provision of the Nigerian Constitution, the Companies and Allied Matters Act and the Imo state laws on town unions,
10. Use of state fund and land to build private university at the Governor’s home town pretending to relocate Imo State University to the site
11. At the inception of the administration, Governor Okorocha told the whole world that he had ceded the state legislative quarters to Concorde Hotel Owerri and named it Concorde Extension. Later, he renamed the place Luxury Apartment and leased it to the wife of his former Special Adviser on Project Monitoring and strong political associate, Mrs. Macdonald Akano for many years.
12. Sale of ADAPALM to Roche Group, Imo Transport Company (I.T.C.), Concorde Hotel, Children’s Park (opposite Concorde Hotel Owerri), state General Hospitals etc for many years.
13. Sale of Imo Road Maintenance Agency (IROMA) graders, bulldozers, pay-loaders etc and appropriating same to yet-to-be accounted source.
14. Alleged auction of world-class Printing and Sword Machines worth over 200 million naira (acquired during Mbakwe Administration) belonging to Imo Newspapers to the governor’s private printing press in Lagos.
15. Borrowing of many Billions of Naira from banks and denying that no money was borrowed.
16. Reduction of admission quota for Imo Indigenes in Imo State University and Imo State Polytechnics (IMSU) to 30%. Tactically increased school fees of Imo Indigenes in IMSU from =N=30,000 to =N=120,000
17. Use of state fund to sponsor daily advertorials, propaganda, world press briefings and slanted news stories in the media for presidential contest.
18. Illegal sack of Education Secretaries in Imo State.
19. Misappropriation of Funds meant for local government councils and the Imo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (ISOPADEC).

21. Refusal to pay severance packages to political appointees who served the Okorocha Government.
22. Refusal to Pay Rescue Mission Community Speakers and Government Liaison Officers monthly allowances.
23. Illegal suspension of Traditional Rulers of the 106 Autonomous Communities created by the Ohakim administration but later approved staff of office to more than 103 new traditional rulers.
24. Stoppage of overtime allowance to public servants.
25. Refusal to pay minimum wage to Judiciary workers.
26. Cajole of Government Contractors into borrowing money to do government projects and refusing to formalize and pay for the contracts done.
27. Abandonment of city-gate projects in Owerri and refusal to pay contractors who are doing the job.
28. Refusal to Pay April and May 2011 Salaries, Severance benefits and other statutory entitlements to Ex-Governor Ikedi Ohakim, his Deputy Dr. Ada Okwuonu, former State Legislatures and Government Appointees who served between 2007 and 2011.

39. Governor Okorocha broke alliance with APGA, President Jonathan, Senator Chris Anyanwu, Chief Martin Agbaso, Chief Achike Udenwa, Senator Hope Uzodinma and many who contributed to his campaign that gave him the first election victory in his life in 2011
40. The administration luntly refused to Pay Severance Allowance and Other Entitlements to Chairmen and Councilors who served during Udenwa Period (Promised to Pay them During 2011 Election Campaign To Pay Them)
41. Sale of all General Hospitals in Imo State to the Governor’s friends from Northern Nigerian.
42. Malicious transfer of the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Imo State Chapter to Abia State office of I.B.C. in Aba so as a reprisal for the NUJ Chairman’s condemnation of illegality that happened in the Okorocha’s Government.
43. At the inception of the Okorocha Administration, Governor Okorocha declared publicly that he was not going to receive any salary as a governor. In one of the Imo State Executive Council meetings held towards the end of 2012, he directed his Principal Secretary to remit all his arrears of salaries to a foundation run by his wife claiming to donate them to the less privilege.
44. During the time of Ohakim Administration, the Security Vote for a Governor was around =N=2 billion. (See 2010 budget of Imo State). But at the inception of the Okorocha Administration, Governor Okorocha lied that the Security Vote of the Governor was =N=6 billion but that he was going to take only half of the vote which is =N=3 billion. What this implies is that Governor Okorocha tactically increased his Security Vote by =N=1 billion while claiming to cut it down.

Radio Biafra is brewing. I am not related to Okorocha anyway and I can never gain anything personally from him but I maintain my stand that his problems are related to his political affiliations. It is however not in the interest of Imolites and Igbos to fight him to non performance.
it is in the interest of imolites to fight him for non performance where cited because he is first and foremost governor of Imo state elected to care of their needs before any other thing

What is killing this thread is turning it an arena to fight Okorocha instead of an arena for discussion on ways foward. I think its all related to same hatred exhibited on facebook and radio biafra against him. Why I like Asha80's contribution is that we always make our contribution on what is best to do in situations but millionaireman and others never contribute but rather attack every positive news from Imo State.

There is a plan for industrial park at Ohaji/Egbema to have direct access to the 3.5 billion Dollar gas plant being built by Shell. That I believe is a news we can deliberate on instead of acting like Okorocha is on this thread.

There was also equally an oil spill that affected some of our communities in Egbema.

There is an expected flooding that will affect us in Oguta and Egbema which requires plan by Government emergency agents as well as public awareness campaign.

A lot is ongoing to discuss instead of fighting Okorocha.
