Nigerian Portugal Student Visa Process by gowaga68: 8:13pm On Jun 21, 2015
Hello All,
I have been working on going to study in Portugal, below is the needed documents.

For the purpose of applying for the visa, please see the requirement below:

- acceptance letter from the school,
- proof of accommodation in Portugal,
- application form duly completed,
- 2 passport pictures with red background,
- photocopy of the data page and validity page of passport,
- Police Character certificate duly stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
- transcript and school certificates duly stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Police Character certificate must be translated and authenticated by this Consular Section. The fee to pay is 55 euros.

In case you want to have the transcripts and diplomas (photocopies) legalized by the Consular Section the fee is 15 euros per document.

If you are not on scholarship you have to present a letter from your bank stating a certain amount is blocked in your account to be transferred to Portugal when the need arises, to pay for your expenses.

Could anyone educate me on the bold aspect? I don't think Nigeria has anything called Blocked account.
Please kindly educate me on that.

l think block account is peculiar with German schools
Re: Nigerian Portugal Student Visa Process by flexxingprince(m): 8:45pm On Jun 24, 2015
There's a block account in Nigerian banking system. Go to your bank tell them you need to deposit a certain amount of money in your account for schooling purpose and tell your account officer to block it so that you can't make withdrawals during your visa process. On your bank statement it will be displayed blocked account.

Blocked account (from my understanding) with schengen embassies in Cameroon means that the money is blocked and will be transferred to your destination after you get a visa. In Naija, for instance, your sponsor may have 20 million naira in his account and then he may block 3.4 million for your studies. Check irrevocable bank account statement. grin

I don't get you if they don't have Consulate what do they have?
Will be heading to submit my form next week, though they kept refusing to answer my question on duration it take to process Visa (student visa).
On the last mail sent to me by them on the footnote they said it's very late to apply for visa cos the school is resuming 15 september.

Goin for first degree and yes will be coming from afar.

That's all.

The New Black simple looking Portuguese Consular seems friendly though wasn't able to submit my documents but from his words the man isn't the harsh type.
A lot of footballers where issued visa and more came to submit theirs (visa request).

Bro, I submitted my visa application at the embassy since 2nd of July and still waiting, although I have a strong faith I will be issued visa but it's taking much time.
I was told by the embassy that are still expecting response to my visa application from Portugal.

It's good to have faith and believe in God, God has the power to do anything. I just got a call from Portugal embassy this evening that my visa has been granted. I blessed the name of the Lord for his great mercy.
