Are you sure the same way Tinubu is attacking fashola so as not to get a job from PMB is not the same way Tinubu is using to others he has fallen apart with.

PMB is picking Tinub's former boys that are now his enemies like Tunde fowler. I am sure fashola and fayemi will make PMB cabinet.

Tinubu would be cut to size. People should just watch out.

For the first time, the nation has written an objective piece in favour of Nigeria.... Buhari can't run Nigeria alone.... If there is rot it takes many hands to work at it

This must be coming from one of those article of no commercial value politicians of the tribe of PDP. Wailers at work. If his one man show will rid the system of corruption let him proceed with it, what's the point of having a host of political office holders whose mandate is to milk the country dry.

But the same Steve Osuji is a Hard-core supporter of PMB and a big-time critic of Gej then, what has changed.

You have chosen to call out thw writer today and not the newspaper because it does not favour PMB. You will be shocked in the coming days.

Rawani:
The fact is that uprooting the deep seated administrative culture of mediocrity, gross indiscipline and lack of accountability in our MDA's requires an extensive examination of the existing system of governance without the interference of political actors.

What PMB is doing by his meetings with perm-secs, is evaluating the current processes and procedures that are in practice, and tuning them appropriately to be in sync with his progressive and transparent approach to governance.

There is no doubt that Ministers and other key government functionaries are necessary for effective and dynamic governance, however it is important that we do not build our castle on a foundation of rotten clay.
What PMB is doing is wisdom many would not av thought of and the true hallmark of a man that knows his onions &is out on a redemptive mission:he is getting first hand, undiluted oral briefings and formal handover notes from ministries and agencies so as to know the true state of affairs and most importantly not be deceived by whoever will head these ministries and agencies, some of who may connive with perm secs and carrier civil servants to pad up figures, hide others and generally out to shortchange the state and Nigerian people.
With what PMB has done,no minister for eg will brief the executive council with false data, phantom projects or figures because he/she knows the CinC already has raw data from each ministry.
Taking this upcoming police recruitment as a case study:if PMB had not been briefed 1st hand as per the no. needed and given his approval based on that,it ccud have been very easy for a dubious minister to connive with the PSC and the IG to say for eg that about 7000 is required while they end up recruiting 5000 extra thru d backdoor by collecting money from such candidates.
If the article writer wants us to go back to the dark ages of GEJ where a president would sign a document without reading it or be briefed on it;then he better teleport himself back to those times.
Ministers would come as soon as all first hand briefings to the president are done.

Op started out quite well but ended badly. His needless focus on ministers was the undoing.

Are we not overestimating the powers of minsters? What exactly does a minister do that a perm sec cannot? And if really the OP has issues with what he perceives as dictatorial predisposition of PMB, who is really in the best position to challenge his excellency, the career technocrat (perm sec) or the AGIP politician (minister)??

Nigeria is irredeemable. When Buhari won the election, I gave up on Nigeria. Now, I concentrate on what I can do to transform my estate to a world class habitat as a person. Because it takes more than common sense to lead a nation.

Buhari is incapable of building one single world class road. The roads in Nigeria looks like the roads in London 800 years ago. Buhari simply has no ideas. I thought he would have recruited the best brains to give him direction and just focus on giving instruction but I am dump-founded to see the man becoming a military dictator, running a monarchy in a Democratic country.

He went to America to meet Obama without a Cabinet, NOT EVEN AN ECONOMIC TEAM. Instead he went with Amaechi, Oshomole wife and Rochas.

That was the day, I gave up on today's Nigeria.

You are very ignorant . It is good that you mentioned roads. Because Buhari has built more then any living Nigerian leader even before he won elections. So I challenge with this home work - go and prove me wrong about the roads and hospitals. Most Nigerians under the age of 40 are completely ignorant. Where did they lie to you that a presidentnt must travel to the US with 400 people including ministers for the visit to be tagged successful. The last government has been the butt of jokes internationally in that regard. Senseless waste of money. Nigeria now has a left of centre economic policy so I don't understand why you don't realize that there is more to governance than selling government properties to one's friends who don't pay taxes, don't deliver services and won't re pay bank loans they took t buy the companies. . Why can't you think deep and research issues even if you are too you?.
Who also lied to you that being a leader is to be harried into every decision especially on appointments. The ministers are being delayed because they must be vetted. No corrupt person must pass through. When they are finally appointed next month, a new order will come into Nigerian politics. American and UK investors are lining up as are Chinese and Indian so just stay tuned.
A s for ideas , I have listened to this guy, Buhari he has more positive ideas and programs than previous regimes like IBB, Abacha, Shagari and most especially Goodluck who never planned and did not expect to be President. I rate him below just a few leaders other leaders we have had in Nigeria. It is SAD that you even brought the issue of roads. Nigeria is finished with people who think like you . All infrastructural projects should not be government programmes. We have said it many times, local , provincial thinking will not allow Nigerians to hear. Building roads is not the job of Presidents. All infrastructural projects in a developing country should be 12 year development programs backed by all stakeholders including political parties, states and local governments with the FUNDS locked in Escrows Acoounts or the financing agreed as a percentage of annual government income. No political party should even be able to come in and monkey about with high priority infrastructural development projects. The current culture of politicians promising three year projects that last three years and enriches a few people should stop. We need a more strategic way of doing things.

IF I MAY ASK, where did Phd Holder GEJ with his esteemed Coordinating Minister of the Economy land us at the beginning of 2015 after 4 years of rule?? - Borrowing to pay salaries, of course! So going along with an economic team to see Obama doesn't always answer the million dollar question of - WHICH WAY NIGERIA!!

Nigeria's major problem is corruption and lack of budget implementation - not having an economic team!

Re: PMB: The Dangers Of One-man-show - Steve Osuji (The Nation) by successinlife: 1:19pm On Aug 21, 2015
This is the solution to Federal Republic of Nigeria's probem.

1. Identification - This is the first thing to do in any country that aspire to be great, you need to identify everything,Identify your population,Identify your strength,Identify your weaknesses,Identify your land, identify all the who is who,the lists goes on.

2. Empowerment - After Identification, you need to empower, give jobs, create jobs, give incentives to those that can create jobs-Investors, creators, Inventors, small scale and large scale investments.

3. Accountability - After a country can successfully identify and empower then comes accountability, you have to give account of the post or job you are ascribed.Even a bus driver must be accountable for his daily struggles, this is very possible through a log book, you have to note the hours you have worked, the cost incured during this period.etc

4. Control - For any country to move forward there must be special control board,an independent organ that are not prone to bribery,it happens in western world, you are controlled in any position, this is why you have Police of Police and Army of Army they don't go on uniform, if there is no control everybody will behave like nobody.

5. Trial/Judgement - The first 4 steps are very important before you can judge or sentence anybody for wrongdoing. You don't know your people, you don' give them means of lielihod, there is no accountability and you want to try/judge or sentence a wrong doer, don't you think an unemployed youngman will thief, not be accountable and not bother of any control if the government fail to do the right thing for its citizens.

6.Government should handle and provide 6 basic neccessities of life.

Food should be cheap, don't talk of importation but rather help the masses to generate their own food consumption, declare massive farming and help even the remote farmers to go into farming, all the arms of farming.

Transportation should be basic entity of the government, copy the developed or advanced developing countries like USA,GERMANY,CHINA,Brazil even South Africa, etc government of these countries provides transportation mostly trains and get it monitored and they are doing fine with it,why can't Nigeria do same.

Electriciy-Sometimes i laughed at how funny our dear country can be at times, what stops the government from taking this project up,supply electricity and send out the bills as is done worldwide,no need to privatise energy, without electricity the country will remain backward alot of our daily activites require power supply.

Pipe borne water- water generation, distribution is important in a serious country, forget about this borehole or this our local dug well it will take you nowhere, most asian countries not to talk of europe supply water to all nook and corners of their country, enough of poor sorry pure water that is not standardized.

Housing, yes this is a must in any country that aspire to be rated among serious nations of the world.private landlords can't do it alone or they will always hike the price of rentage per month, houses if you like call it low cost housing scheme, this is needed in Nigeria,in short if properly schemed allocation can be done before any male child reach the age of 18 years,it is possible.

Security - no be local gateman go keep any house secure,i have never seen this any part of the world except unserious nations, once the security system of a country is put in place and well managed, gateman will just be an errand man because his task will just be to open and close the gate where automated gates are not installed.

All other things will take shape if all these can be put in place, anybody can claim more than 10 different names in my Nigeria because people can't be identified in 2015 where DNA and individual data bank is the order of the day in most countries. The colour of your hair, eyes, skin, height, blood group etc are well noted. Comit the slightest offence and you will be fished out in less than 30 minutes.

It is after all the above points are realised that we can now embark on developmental research to upgrade a system that is already in place,we don't have a foundation, how can we talk about the structure our society will fashion alike.A journey of ten thousand miles starts with a step.

God bless Nigeria, though i weep this is fast becoming a waste great country, may we find our feet as soon as possible.

What is the writer of this write up trying to achieve ? So PMB should throw morality to the dustbin & appoint ministers without first putting in place good ministerial controls that other past administration have deliberately eroded to their own personal benefits...Habba ! We must be mindful of what we write in order not to jeopardise the interest of the majority in this nation. Their is no one man show on this issue..as a matter of fact it is the political jobbers that are complaining PMB is working...no ministers yet power has improved considerably what are we saying ?

If Governor Nasir El Rufai of Kaduna State (a first timer) could get started immediately, what is holding up Governors Akin Ambode

This is a very misguided and pointless article obviously written by another disgruntled village biafran and wailing wailer.

What PMB inherited across the board can not be paved over without rooting out the dirt and laying a new and safe foundation for the future and this can not be done overnight or just by waving some magic wand.

And if I might add, PMB is not doing anything on his own, there are folks working behind the scene scrutinizing and making recommendations or suggesting actions to be taken.

What's wrong with Nigerians anyway? You just suffered through 16 years of calamity and disaster and you are crying and complaining after just 3 months into PMB's admin. We are seeing improvements everywhere and people are doing their job effectively for a change.

People just need to keep quiet and let the man do his job.

Per the highlighted, this is an exception regarding the article.

Fashola commissioned multiple projects every week and he left hundreds of of going projects in different stages of completion, but Ambode is yet to touch or commission anything, he jumping from one irrelevant issues to the next, playing politics and openly rubbishing his predecessor. He appears shallow, empty, aimless and vision less.

What a disappointment ...

Hypocrisy is the biggest problem Nigeria has. Obasanjo came into power, people jettisoned his presidential tittle, called him baba (as if na him born them) and went ahead to tell him that without him Nigeria will come to a standstill. As far as they are concerned only him has the requisite experience to make nigeria great. Consequently, he rode roughshod on all of us, he abused people on national media at will and when it was time to go he connived with some to change constitution and get a third term. He eventually left after installing those he consider stooge and even after leaving power he himself couldn't recover from hype created about him while in power. He insanely goes around accusing everyone else of corrupttiin but himself. So sad.

Jonathan came in, he got surrounded by sycophants too to the extent that he became totally inure to all crimes being perpetrated around him.

It is Buhari's time and the slogan now is that he is the only incorruptible man on planet earth. Whatever he does as far as his sycophants are concerned he is immuned to mistake and he cannot err. If he chooses to take the entire four years to form a cabinet and keep Nigeria at standstill, it doesn't matter. In buhari we now have not another President but another 'baba' in the mode of Obasanjo. He is free to roughshod over us, neglect constitutional provision and at the end of the day cleanse us of our corrupt tendency while he himself sits down there and gradually slide into dictatorship, a terrible form of corruption. What a people we are, we glory in human worship and turn our leaders to deities only worthy of our worship.
