Well, you have a point but how long would you continue to manipulate the economy using Baba Ijebu's approach ?

Maybe Baba Ijebu's approach is what we need for now, them maybe in a few month's time we use Baba Biliki's approach, and maybe a few months after then we use Baba Suwe's approach until we can achieve a sane climate, after then can we start trying the normal economics. Slow and steady wins the race.

Moreover I will rather trust the team of economists set up by Buhari than a Truckpusher on nairaland. No offense

The truth is economic policies are some times too hard to understand for people who are not inclined to it, imagine the currency trader that was quoted even said global dollar devaluation, whereas its just a case of demand and supply.

Anyways there are some key adjustments this administration has made in terms of economic policies that if follow through will help the economy in long term, there are still more to be done if we want to move at the same pace with global economics.

Yeah ,you're right but this isn't one of them compared to the way some folks here are making it look like. Though I concur with passingshot that the speculators are dangerous and should be handled directly and not jampack your entire economic policy just because of some individuals that has refused to play by the rules and this is my pain.
Well, let's give them time and see how far we can go with this manipulations .

Of course, the policy may be a bit difficult to sustain in the short run but if determined to succeed, in two years time or so, buying dollars from the so-called parallel market will be very unfashionable and unattractive.

Check what has been the exchange range of the gulf countries for almost ten years now and you'd be amazed that it's largely remained same thing despite that their economy is 95% (at least) reliant on crude oil export. Why has the decline in crude oil price not affected their currency value in ten years?

Let's give this policy a chance.

I did miss you o, Honestly .
Well, at that point you should always walk away from the arena because we deserved every insult we got that day .I didn't watch the match *lies* grin

Talking about the President , that has always been their modus operandi and it's all about the post civil war position of some quarters of this country even when they didn't conquer the Eastern region alone but again it will only make the people's resolve for self determination to grow and the voice of resentment to scream louder but that's a topic for another day.
Let them enjoy the changes they voted for after all Jonathan was the one that they gave them that opportunity ,I'm a Niger Deltan but I can categorically tell you that Jonathan fuccked up big time in handling these animals in human skin.

If I were him we would be talking about something else by now while Nigeria would be on life support.
How can an Ijaw man be pushed around ?...smh

Stringent And deliberate choking of the dollar didn't give them that edge at all but huge foreign reserves over the years ,diversity in the economy ,tourism and all the rest gave them that edge .

People spend dollar in the UAE's like their local currency go figure but I still concur with you that since we didn't make hay while the sun shines that we ought to give this policy a chance but did you guys give Jonathan's policies such a chance before being shutdown in flight?

Passingshit, we are waiting for one naira to be equal to one dollar.

When GEJ left it was trading at 190 and you call 208 progress?

You must be as daft as your boko commander
You are the dafty one here. The free fall of naira as at June and July was still parts of the mess of the last regime.
Now that the policy of the new regime is taking roots, the free fall is being reverse to become free climbing.
Watch out for more.

Fool. Nobody is requesting for forex anymore other than fuel importers. The economy is at a standstill and just like any hyper inflation storm, the currency which is like the wind stagnates before spiralling down.

Expect the Naira to crash even further.

If you read the article, you will see where the rise in the naira was attributed to the devaluation of the dollar by the US Feds which is in direct response to the chinnese devaluation of their currency.

All the gains fools like you want to attribute to Buhari are what Jonathan did in terms of infrastructure or flimsy flukes with this clueless administration not doing a damn thing.

It is a welcome development. But we should understand that the parallel market is not of much use to businessmen and women who need the funds to settle their suppliers. The parallel market may have dropped drastically, people are not patronizing them that much. Inflows yesterday still sold for N230 and some N240 self. That is the real value cos that is the one importers use for trade settlement.
Until the inflow price comes down to N200 or N205 will importers agree that there is a change. We do not buy from black market again cos it is useless now whether it is N140.

Truckpusher, it's no longer news that Jonathan had five and half years to prove himself. Let's not go there at all please.

Yes, you can spend dollars in those economies but the fate of the local currency is not left in the hands of speculators.

We'll always go there because I was expecting an Eldorado the moment uncle Bubu took over. You guys made it look that way , didn't you ?
Well, you've got a point , so why not make a policy to cage these speculators instead of making a blanket policy. This is akin to King Herod's way in trying to eliminate Jesus as an infant. grin

Bro, permit to say that this is some kind of wild goose chase as long as we have always had no continuity in Governance with an unstable policy.
