I've noticed something with southerners (SE and SS most especially). Each time one of your own is appointed/elected into a high office, your people try all they can to pull him/her down. Why? Back in 1999, PDP zoned the senate presidency to SE, we had 5 different senate presidents within 8 years (ewerem, late. Okadigbo, wabara, ayim and nnamani), when thesame post was zoned to NC, one man did the job for 8 years (David Mark), it might also interest you to know that majority of the people that attempted to eliminate our dear Dora (God bless her soul) were igbos an so many other examples.

His 'competence' is not in doubt, but it depends on the parameters by which you choose to define competence in this context. He is very well-versed in the officialese and workings of the National Assembly, having chaired the business and rules committee in both the HOR and Senate. This makes him very knowledgeable

However, much of his job depends on his ability to liaise effectively with members of the National Assembly and facilitate cordial relations between them and the presidency. Unfortunately, I don't see him doing too well in that regard. He is widely despised in the National Assembly (even by members from his own state) because of his annoying over sabi and 'ITK' attitude. He is regarded as a pedantic and loquacious bore who always thinks he knows it all; even National assembly civil servants and lobbyists hate his guts. He is not exactly the likeable kind of guy that can persuade members of the NA to pass an executive bill or help Buhari in any way. He lacks such charm and soft skills.

Senator Ita Enang had the most bills on the floor of the house during his time. He is an intelligent but very selfish man. During the campaigns, he was on air about twice and his people "finished" him completely. He shamelessly left PDP because OBA "wanted" his position. OBA claims he it was who made Ita Enang what he is today and Ita Enang has never refuted it.
