[b] The achievements of the Yoruba people isn't in doubt. They have gone very far in education and as captains of industries and even
Politics. When I was in secondary school, I was astonished to read Yoruba history, the Oyo empire and Afonja. I was marvelled because we Igbos never had or built empires. Igbo land was a loose confederation of clans who tenaciously held on to their indepedence.

It is with deep regret that today,the Yoruba man has no iota of self determination. Reading Yoruba history, one would have thought that they would have been at the forefront of an independent Odua Republic so that they can administer their affairs, instead, today the Yoruba man has become a slave of "one Nigeria" and an eternal servant of the North. It beggars belief that a people who once controlled a vast empire that stretched from present day Bini to Togo cannot see past the artificial creation called Nigeria. Not only have Yorubas become slaves of one Nigeria, they even admonish people who seek self determination such as the Igbos when we Igbos mention an independent home land of Biafra. How did things get like this? How did the Yorubas let northerners install an "Emir" in Yorubaland? How come the extent of Yoruba self determination ends at regionalism? How did these people lose their sense of self determination? Most regrettable [/b]

Well, Yorubas are a great people, to deny that fact will mean that I am dishonest. But are the Yorubas more populous that Ndiigbo? Without a reliable census with space for ethnicity in the census form, one can't say that with certainty, and repeating that Yorubas are more populous than Ndiigbo like the Nigerian government and Yoruba media has been doing for decades now will not make it true.
It's still a propaganda.

Most successful tribe, supporting mediocre quota system in education and can't stand for anything merit because they simply can't compete with the Igbos. Yet they stupidily and blindly pride themselves as the most successful tribe.

We have been ready for a knowledge based economy since 1960 but we are being held back by a dysfunctional natural resource economy since then.
Oodua states has bled and is still bleeding so much human resources that you will cry .
There is absolutely no major global corp e.g the English speaking fortune 400 companies, that you will not find omoluabis in technical , administrative or operations department. This is before we start talking about the public service.
I am not talking first generation omoluabis here . I am not including their children at all, neither am I talking about the usual suspects like professors and doctors.
I am talking about the typical seyi or tunde from shomolu who struggled to get a visa.
The west has basically vacuumed up de cream de la cream of our intelligentsia.
