At least 26 people were killed in two separate attacks in Borno villages by Boko Haram militants yesterday, representatives from the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have said.

Boko Haram militants rode on horses to ‎the remote villages of Kolori in Damboa Local Government Area and opened fire on civilians, killing at least 18 and carting away foodstuffs.

''They came on horses at about 5:30 PM yesterday, opened fire on people, killing no fewer than 18 people and injuring 7 others,'' Abubakar Damboa, a member of CJTF, told SaharaReporters by phone.

Similarly, Boko Haram insurgents proceeded to Ba'na Iman village a few kilometres away from Kolori, where the insurgents wreaked havoc on civilians at about 6:45 PM yesterday.

Another resident of Ba'na Iman village, Bulama Kaigama, said that 8 civilians were killed and some residents  had fled to Biu IDPS camp because all their homes burnt down while their foodstuffs, cattle, and goats have been carted away.
