How Does Israel's Involvement In Fighting B/haram Affect Buhari's Re-election? by Chartey(op):

I just saw this thread now. As to whether it's a good move in terms of national security and international politics I do not know. One thing I am sure of however is that if it is publicised much, it will hurt Buhari's chance of winning in 2019.
I know firsthand the anti-Israel sentiment in Northern Nigeria. It's probably stronger than the anti-USA sentiments. Many non-Northerners resident here will agree with me and I expect many enlightened Northerners here to disagree. It's no problem, we all have our noses.
Buhari's involvement of Israel will be simply seen as kowtowing to the dictates of Western powers and a betrayal of the Northern masses who sent him to Aso Rock with their votes. It will be hard work convincing them that it is not what it seems.
Will this make him secure more Southern votes? Maybe (not). Most Southerners do not see Boko Haram as a primary problem and fighting it will not carry as many points as tackling other issues like power, health, unemployment and inflation on their scorecards will. It will simply not be enough to mainly use that to secure re-election.
It is very important to be a good administrator as he's trying to be but it's also important to be a great politician. It's how good you play your politics that will largely determine what side of history you end up on. Baba please be careful.

This is strictly my opinion. Please let's read what you think.

You are a politician and one with a peculiar dream. Buhari promised Nigerians 12th November 2015 to wipe out bokoharam from Nigeria. We are waiting. Let him use whatever method and source to do this. If Israel will make him fulfil his promise to his people and give peace to them, he should go ahead and ask them for help. By so doing, the Ibos will vote for him, the Yoruba will vote him, the ne, nc and the ss will vote for him. Only the nw, I have doubts, but I will sure change to vote for him. Let's join brains and brawns, machine guns and aireil power and Israeli assistance to wipe out ISIS and its bokoharam brother from Nigeria. Yes Israel will wipe out the shame from Nigeria if asked and they agree to help.

I'm not opposed to Israel helping out. I'm just concerned about the perception his core support base will have of him when this is publicised. It matters to him and his party. This should have been kept a secret or very low key.

Thanks. Please don't be concerned about the perception of his core support base. Buhari has himself publicised his intention to ask Israel for help since he began his public relation with the US. He probably got the idea to ask Israel for help from the US. We all know that if Israel does not help Nigeria to wipe out ISIS, ISWA and bokoharam, ISIS will finish Nigeria before using it as a stepping stool to going forward to pursue Israel.
