Once he is in his dying bed anything can happen and if i am really sure there is a stash somewhere, i think it will be safe to get the defibrillator, the resuscitation drugs manned judiciously by a tight lipped health personnel who will keep vigil every minute.
I'd rather have him in coma than dying straight off without revealing where the stash it. Hell the spirit can even be conjured easily when in coma than when he is stone cold dead.
