Governor Dickson Expressed Shock Over Col. Sam Inokoba’s Death by giftemerald(op): 12:38pm On Sep 03, 2015
Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson has expressed shock over the sudden death of retired Col. Sam Inokoba, a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the December 5 governorship election in the state.
Inokoba, before his death last Tuesday, was the immediate past state chairman of the PDP in the state, before he left the party for the APC.

The State Working Committee of the PDP had last June, indicted Inokoba for misappropriating campaign funds meant for mobilization during last April Presidential elections in the state, a charge, which the former chairman denied.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, quoted Governor Dickson as describing the death of Inokoba as a personal loss to him.

The governor said that he was shocked when he received the news of the demise of the former state chairmab of the PDP chairman who he worked with to ensure his emergence as the Chairman of the PDP in the state.

He equally emphasized the symbiotic relationship that existed between him and the late Inokoba, stressing that the former PDP chairman would be greatly missed by his family and close associates, especially the political class.

Dickson prayed God to grant the family the strength and fortitude with which to bear the irreparable loss as well as grant his soul eternal rest.

The statement further assured the Inokoba family of the state government’s preparedness to support and participate in the funeral rites of the former party chairman.

The late Inokoba was until his sudden demise, a staunch rival of the ruling PDP in the state, ahead of the governorship elections scheduled to hold on December 5, 2015.

A Family source told newsmen in Yenagoa that the retired army colonel, who recently became a major force in the campaign programmes of the APC ahead of the governorship election, reportedly died last Tuesday night.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, however disclosed that the family is yet to establish the cause of death, denying insinuations that the former PDP chairman died after a brief illness.

“The sudden death of Inokoba is still a misery to the family bacause he was very strong and have been busy in campaign. He was not sick, as being insinuated. In short, we are yet to establish the real cause of his death,” the source said.
