**FEEDBACK**
I went for the third and final stage of an interview today. We were a 100+ in number that started the race together on the first day, but just 14 made it to dis last stage. Of the remaining 14, i and one other guy were shortlisted for the Mathematics position. D guy went in for the oral interview before me. When it got to my turn, d woman said she was impressed with my write-up and that am trainable. The panel now asked to meet me. Everything was going quite well till i was asked if am a christian. I told them am a Jehovah's Witness and most of them readjusted themselves. After I came out, they asked the other guy that applied for Mathematics position to go back home and get his original document(they checked mine while the interview was goin on). Do you guyz think that it was because of my religion they reconsidered the other guy?(the school is a christian school). Though they said anybody that gets a call from them should resume on Monday. The school is an A-Level School.
Sorry for the long epistle

I think what they were trying to understand is how i would contribute during morning devotion and assembly.

@southboy,
You said you noticed the way they reacted when you told them your religion, I think that should be the reason the other guy was considered.

Most Christian denominations do not pally with Jehovah's witness and especially those from some particular churches. undecided

In the school settings,a Jehovah's witness would not want to participate in any activity that has to do with Christian stuffs, like conducting morning assembly, Friday fellowship and Christmas Carol.

Just keep hope alive, pray and wait for Monday to come.

I want to relocate to Abuja to teach
I'd love to teach in a school where there's no timetable
In fact I want to teach children who don't go to school, can't afford school, or who have no school in their area
I'll teach them science, Maths, PHE
I want to teach in the north

I'll be sending out my CV while I work towards my dream

Welldone my brother, I am also a JW and I have lost several juicy teaching positions because of that. But right now, I am in a very solid 21st century school that respects my religion. Talk to Jehovah about it, and leave it to him.
I am certain u'll meet one that appreciate JW and the qualities they possess.
Just be calm and don't stop searching, until u find.

Exactly what I have in mind. Are you a Christian should have been simply answered with, "Yes, I am a Christian" till it is absolutely necessary to state further. As a matter of fact, some issues (like religion, politics, your state or town, and other closely related issues) are not really good or relevant things to be discussed in an interview, especially on the part of the interviewee EXCEPT you are sure that it's gonna work in your favour. If not, why giving unnecessary details about it.

I could remember some years back when I was asked in an interview, "Are you a Christian?". I simply answered, "Yes". The man went further and asked, "Are you a Christian to the CORE?" I just smiled and replied him that I don't know what level of Christianity or denomination his "...to the core" means, and that he should just go ahead and tell me what my faith (religion) or it's deepness has to do with the job role I'm being interviewed for.

It's then he smiled and said it's mandatory for every staff of the school to attend a vigil in the school on every last Friday of the month, the penultimate Friday to vacation, as well as the last Friday to any resumption date after holidays. For few seconds, I remained mute because I don't even know what to say. I just looked right into his eyes and said to him, "Sir, I am a Christian to the core but I refuse to be part of that mandatory vigil meant for all the staffs simply because it is mandatory and not voluntary. Even a place of worship won't make vigil compulsory to it's congregation, let alone a place of work. Although, if the mandatory worship is to take place during the day time, I might give it a consideration, but at nights, it's a NO sir."

After this response of mine, he said it has been the practise in the school all along and that it is always reveal to the applicants before being finally employed, and that without accepting that condition, it's not possible to work there. Immediately he said this, I just stretch my hand for handshake and said, "I guess we've come to the end of the interview, thank you for your time."
