Should this philosophy be applied to the recent appointments made by the President, which is viewed as lopsided? -Punch Newspaper The South-Eastern people are complaining bitterly. What I will tell them is ‘Be calm, what if an Igbo person is given a ministry? It is just one family that is enjoying’. Rather, look out for the programme of the government; what plans do they have for south-eastern Nigeria? Once they have good plans, whoever is appointed to any position is irrelevant. For example, does Buhari have plans for the Second Niger Bridge? What plans does he have for erosion and all those bad roads in the South-East that connect other parts of the country? Those are the areas where they should be tackling him, not who he is appointing. If they keep on pressing and he now appoints south-eastern ministers and officials in various other places and those major things affecting their lives are not tackled at the end of the day, then the appointments would be of no use and will make no impact; they will not improve on the South-East or the standard of living there. It will just be one family that is living a rarefied life for four years and then they’ll go back to the people. What’s the point? It is misplaced priority that I am seeing in this country when people talk of ‘This man didn’t come from my side’ and ‘That fellow didn’t come from my village’. Another lawyer again thinking like a lay-man just like keyamo! And to think he is a SAN. If where appointment comes from doesn't matter, what then is the purpose of federal character as entrenched in chapter two of our constitution which is the 'fons et origio' of our legal system that you, a professor of law is supposed to dance to the music and song which it beats and sings? Prof sagay should be reminded that the reason where appointment comes from matters is because ours is a country made of divergent clannish ethnic groups who are little more than crabs in a bucket and to secure the unity of our nation and to give every ethnic group a sense of belonging, no institution should be composed in such a way that will have one ethnic group dominates it. Hence, government as an institution of the state of all institution shouldn't and never should be dominated by persons from one ethnic group thereby relegating the almost 249 other ethnic groups to the background. And the opposite is what Buhari is doing appointing people chiefly from the north! Prof. said the igbo should rather be asking what blue-print does the government has to develop the east. Should this old prof. be reminded that Buhari doesn't even have a blue-print to develop Aso-rock let alone the east. We keep hearing is "i will secure the future of the youth", "i will fulfill my promised during campaign" etc. How does Buhari hope to achieve that is left to be seen. No blue-print whatsoever. The only blue-print he has is 'BODY LANGUAGE". Prof. You should be demoted from SAN (senior advocate of nigeria) to JAN(Junior advocate of Nigeria) |

That chinco made SAN should have also gone further to condemn the educationally less disadvantaged states used to favour northerners into getting admission into unity schools and universities!!!! Furthermore i would like to know what criteria Buhari did use in selecting the "competent" northerners he has so far selected into his government!!! Did he set a test or interview for them for which the southern candidates failed or what!!! How do you convince me that the northerners selected so far were more competent than the southerners in APC? |

Of course it doesn't matter right now because we are still experiencing peace. It will matter when Nigerians pick up arms and start agitating for a country of their own. Nigeria has never been this divided and PMB is fuelling these sentiments. |

South-South had a vice president for 2 years and a president for 6 years, are they better for it? Did that made the region more prosperous? Did that take care of the environmental degradation in SS and oil spillage in Ogoni land? Did that not only make people like Ayiri, Asari and Tompolo rich and their people still very poor? Did that not turn Orubebe, who is an elder in the church, suffer a disease that cause people to foam in the mouth while trying to sabotage National election? I prefer someone from Sokoto become minister for finance and produce result that will improve condition of living for the country to FFK who is from my town.
