The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Presidency were locked in a war of words on Sunday over the invasion of the Akwa Ibom State Government House last Friday by officials of the Directorate of State Security Services (DSS).

While the opposition party regarded the invasion as a sign that Nigeria is on a fast descent into dictatorship, the Presidency said that the party is imagining “vain things”, a consequence of its comprehensive defeat at the last general elections.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Ekerete Udo, had at the weekend confirmed to the Daily Times that the DSS officials ransacked the Guest House section of the Government House. He, however, dismissed reports in some quarters that the security officials seized a cache of foreign currencies during the raid. Some other reports claimed that the DSS officials seized large arms.

Udo dismissed both claims.

Please ooo, Akwa Ibom used to be in the news for positive reasons under Akpabio. Udom should concentrate on governance. He has a lot of records befbefore him beat.
