An army officer, Captain Garba Sani, told the Rivers State Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Wednesday‎ that he never saw where election was conducted in Tai Local Government Area where he and his other men were deployed to maintain peace and order on April 11, 2015, the day the poll was scheduled to hold.

The Mohammed Ambrosa-led tribunal overruled the objection by Governor Nyesom Wike, his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, before Sani was allowed to give his oral evidence on Wednesday.

Sani, a subpoenaed witness, who said he led 37 other soldiers on a patrol of the entire Tai, which is one of the 23 local government areas in Rivers State, said he appeared before the tribunal on the directive of army authorities.

‎The soldier, who is of the Bori Camp, Army Barracks in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, said he received the directive of the army authorities through the Directorate, Legal, of the Nigerian Army, after his unit received “a signal” about the subpoena served on the Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Tukur Buratai.

The subpoena served on the Chief of Army Staff was obtained upon a request by the petitioners – the All Progressives Congress and its candidate in the April 11 poll, Dr. Dakuku Peterside – who are challenging the declaration of Governor Wike as the winner of the election.

The soldier, led in evidence by the petitioners’ counsel, Chief Akin Olujinmi (SAN), said his team’s patrol started at about 6pm on April 10 into the night and up till the election day on April 11.

This is exactly what the PDP was afraid of when they accussed the APC/DSS of manipulating security personnel to give testimonies favouring the APC....

......But Lets face it. Did elections hołd in Rivers State?

Election here was one way,is either your voting PDP or you receive the beating of your life.I ran away when PDP thugs descended on a guy videoing actions of these thugs .It was so bad in Rivers.

It was bloody election but Wike will continue to win if re-run is held 10 times,i dont think Wike will have chance to contest again tho as APC will send EFcc after him and INEC will not approve him

It will never end like Omehia's case because the scenerios are different. In this case, the tribunal can only cancel the result and order for a new election and WIKE WILL STILL WIN.

On what basis will he be disqualified?
The case has nothing to do with wether he is qualified or not to contest rather it has to do with the credibilty of the election. That is why I said it is different from Omehia's because, Omehia was disqualified simply because he never contested in the party(PDP) primary in the first place.

The PDP and their host of senseless supporters really messed up in that Rivers election.

The PDP would have still won that election albeit by a lesser margin. But APC would have gotten some State Assembly seats including at the minimum 1 Senate and House of Rep seat.

But in their attepmt to embarrass Amaechi, massage their own ego and cover up the fraud of the presidential election they engaged in what can be described as day light election robbery!

This was also replicated in Akwa-Ibom and partially in Delta.

What I find difficult to understand is how sane human beings and even educated folks will be supporting this fraud.

Some blockheads are even already threatening fire and brimstone if the judgement of the tribunal did not go their way. It is this kind of threat that made the tribunal agree to relocate to Abj to ensure their safety. Let them continue threatening the tribunal, they are indirectly giving the tribunal more evidence on how the election actually was.

If the PDP is so sure of wining Rivers 10 times over if rerun is carried out, then they have nothing to fear for, they have nothing to shout for, they have no reason to be soliciting public sentiments and they definitely have no reason for their media rantings.
