The remains of 32-year-old Dapo Olasore, who was allowed to drown by officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, have been recovered by residents of the Agboyi Community in the Alapere area of Lagos State. It was learnt that the body of the victim floated around 9pm on Monday.

Dapo had fallen into a river when officials of the NDLEA stormed his vicinity, but the men allegedly asked a boat operator who had wanted to rescue him not too.

A resident who confirmed the body, said; “His remains have been found. His body floated around 9pm some distance away from where he drowned; it was bloated and smelly.”

His relatives from Ibadan have also started arriving for his burial. But said they would have to first get a police report to avoid any form of trouble with the authorities. Some traditional rites will also be carried out before he is finally buried. May his soul rest in peace

Lord have mercy!! For crying out loud the man was only trying to escape from them which is a normal thing for a human being whether criminal or not should do, is it not their job to hunt and catch him no matter what.
Why would they refuse to allow the guy to be rescued? What if he is not as guilty as charged eventually? He should have been rescued first. People sometimes on survival instinct run into their deaths on impulse, it's not fair. Those officers should be arraigned immediately .

Whatever happens to "innocent until proven guilty"

In 9ja there is nothing like "innocent until proven guilty".
when you get to a police station you will see "bail is free", but it never is.

It was wrong and inappropriate for the NDLEA to watch him DIE when they can help rescue and apprehend him. RIP

Hmmmm.. Wickedness of mankind.. If its in abroad, the guy would be rescued by all means.
They prefer seeing their citizens serving jail terms than dieing anyhow..

Wondering what sort of training those officers were given. Didnt they know that more informations would have been given by the guy for further arrest of other suspects that he works with.. Smh for those officers.

This country don't value human life. That's what I like about the USA, if though you are a terrorist and you have killed 1000 people so far as you are harmless(holding no weapon) they will rescue you (either shot, drown hit) to face the law like the Boston bomber even though the law may still sentence you to death.
