During her teen years auditioning in Nairobi, Nyong'o was told her skin was 'too dark' for her to be on TV, and she scoffed.

'I realized that my skin color was making some people see me differently,' the Mexican-born, Kenyan-raised actress recalled.

A black woman getting shortchanged by her own people, because she was "too dark"!
Well, if she had received this sort of treatment from whites, we would all scream "racism!"

Now that black people complained about a fellow black being too black, what do we make of it?
To even think that this beautiful lady got her shot to stardom by predominantly white movie makers, should make us question ourselves.
Now, do you still wonder why some people try to change their skin color?

The heavy editing on that last picture makes it difficult to look at.

I bet it feels good to know that those who never felt you could be on TV would have to see you on TV more than they expected . lol. She killed it in 12years a slave.
