If Saraki is convicted, Ekweremadu assumes the position of acting Senate President pending when the Senate elect a new President. When a new SP is elected, he (Ike) reverts to his DSP role.

Ekweremadu can ONLY be removed by 2/3 of Senators present in a sitting provided that they form quorum. So far, PDP has 49 Senators making it impossible for APC Senators to kick him out.

Before or after Saraki's conviction, charges will be brought against Ekweremadu for forging the senate rules. His emergence as the deputy senate president is one of the reasons why Saraki is going through his present ordeal. So, don't ever think APC will leave Ekweremadu off the hook.

And if Saraki truly get convicted, Ekweremadu does not need anybody to tell him he either resigns honourably or go down just like Saraki. The pragmatic choice for him will be to resign or get convicted for forging senate rules. It's a very simple choice for him. When Saraki finally goes down, he goes with him.

Just a question , senate has the rigth to probe anything. After the oversight and they find that somebody embezzled money, what next. Do they have the right to order police to arrest or charge the person to court ?

I asked this question bcuz it is pretty obvious Saraki is being haunted by APC(Tinubu and co maybe even Buhari inclusive). Saraki can fight back by setting up probe panel on some dealing Tinubu had and ofcourse indict Tinubu too or whoever is behind his current travail. They all have skeleton in their cupboard.

You'll never change and you will never learn. Do we need to dig up your posts where you spoke with certainty about how GEJ will carry the day and show Tinubu, Buhari et al who is "the most influential politician in Nigeria"? Or shall I remind you of how you pledged to deactivate your account if Buhari won in a certain State he actually did in the end? Yet, showing you have no shame or honour, you are still here and posting.

You have been discredited many times here yet you never learn. Keep turning things illogically on its head, in ignorance of the Nigerian political truth and reality, to speak as if a Senate President can really stand in the way of a determined President especially when the North, a region that feel it was cheated of power over the Yar Adua saga, will always throw Saraki into the lions den than threaten Buhari's Presidency. Perhaps you and your household will protect Saraki. In a battle of supremacy with Buhari, the North will cut Saraki off pronto and the SW will be disinterested in helping him. even SE and SS senators will quickly be whipped into line because those guys are about self-interest while you live to come to Nairaland to talk sentimentally about what you want which, logically, is not feasible. I don't know when you will understand politics is about permanent interest and not permanent enemies/friends. You always talk sentimentally and I have not notice where you have once made logical sense or spoken as if you acknowledge the reality of things. Saraki is a goner if indeed Buhari wants him gone. So also Ekweremadu.
Have been looking for you Gbawe, what's happening with Apc and Osun state,is that d Change? And tell me how Ekweremadu is gone? Or are u just saying ur wish?

Ekwerenmadu CAN'T be the Senate President if Saraki is eventually butted out of office. They weren't elected on the same ticket. They ran for there post on different platform. If Saraki should be impeached, The Senate will conduct a new election into the office of the Senate President. This is different from the Executive arm where the President and his Vice ran and elected on the same ticket

Empty noisemakers!!! Why dont wait until Saraki goes down before you begin to gloat? As for the so-called forgery case, the APC has no case and they knew it hence they have not pursued it further.

Simple, he will be booted out too. There is a case against him already. He was alleged to have planned with the Clark of the house to forge a letter that favoured Saraki during the 8th national assembly election

It will come to nullity as lawmakers cannot execute anything. Even when they issue a communique and come to a resolution, the executive can simply ignore and that's it. The only means the executives are controlled by the house is the power to make law. And that includes the power to impeach. So as a president, you don't want to be impeached as it cannot be entertained (technically) by a court, so long as all the processes are followed to the later.
In Nigeria however, the processes for impeaching a president is so windy, it is extremely difficult. Even with blazing corruption and ineptitude, you need to bestir yourself seriously before moving such a motion. You need 240 lower house first, then the senate and Chief judge will prosecute, with 2/3 senate (73) in agreement to remove him. How do you secure that? You can do all you can even with all lower house members on your side, he needs only 37 senators to stall you. See the toothless-ness of the upper house?

very much eniyan mi. O to ojo meta. I am looking forward to seeing the sanity we all supported Buhari to deliver everywhere. Saraki's days are numbered in my opinion. Buhari is very tenacious and he has stated that he believes the Party must be respected. Saraki rubbished the APC and I don't think he will be allowed to get away with setting a precedence which suggests that you can profit from openly and disdainfully disgracing your own political Party. Imagine Ekweremadu, a PDP senator, as deputy senate President? I don't think Saraki appreciates what he did and how an ultra-principled old school politician like Buhari will likely never forgive him.

In accordance with the constitution, the office of the Senate President is not run in tandem with the President of the Federation. If he's remove, a new election is conducted to re-elect the President of the Senate.

1)Then how come they order IG even service chiefs for questioning.

2) I'm not talking about impeaching Buhari here.

Saraki has been boxed to a corner and definitely going to fight back. We are in for a serious ride cuz dude might just trow caution in d air and play dirty. Unearth everything on Tinubu, ask him to appear b4 the senate panel if he refuses he will order his arest too.

I never like the way Sanusi connived with Saraki, got his non performing laon cancelled but jailed the likes of Ibru. Dude has been involved with financial crimes from God knows when. I just want the whole bubble to burst- both Saraki tinubu all the criminals jailed.

What on earth are you talking about here? have you guys given some thought to the biggest consideration here which is that the North fought tooth and nail to gain a Presidency they thought they were robbed of due to the treachery of GEJ? Saraki can fight back but if Buhari is insistent he must go then no single Northerner will attempt to rubbish or undermine Buhari by supporting Saraki too passionately.

the part in bold is a joke. Where would Saraki get the support to do that? Saraki cannot make Tinubu appear before the Senate because that stage will signal that Saraki is ready to fight Buhari and his political associates. If Saraki dare does such then all Northern Senators, even those in the PDP, will distance themselves from him while all APC SW Senator will never back Saraki against Tinubu. The point is that Saraki can make his move but he will lose out to a determined Buhari. He caused this for himself for his high level of treachery, indiscipline and lack of loyalty to his Party. When has the PDP ever let the opposition even sniff the deputy senate presidency since 1999? do some of you even appreciate what Saraki has done for the sake of power? He has to be shown that the Party is bigger than him and I personally don't think a disciplinarian like Buhari will relent. I said it when this started that Saraki would be dealt with only for some here to be praising Saraki without understanding that when you make your move others will make theirs . It was always only a matter of time . We are seeing that now.

Exactly. Some people don't appreciate the magnitude of what Saraki has done. In the West he will be done for because no politician is bigger than the political Party. His open treachery will not be condoned in most nations of the world. Not even the UK Prime minister or US President can be so disdainful of their Party without consequences. People don't understand that Buhari has the mentality of a Western politician. He is not GEJ i.e Mr.Anything-goes who never believed people must be punished for even very serious misconduct. Saraki rubbished the APC before the world and I think Buhari fundamentally believes he has to pay.

I can bet my 2 balls that Tinubu and co are the ones behind his travail. Tomakint, na you dey talk like this? Someone stole your handle or perhaps I misunderstood you for one of those who automatically supports everything/everyone they think is giving the APC a bloody nose like Pa Chukwudi or the highly comical freeglobe who suggested Saraki should "impeach" Buhari. The funny thing was that I was one of those who suggested Saraki, because of his charisma, might be a decent choice for senate President if he has truly come of political age, is ready to shun corruption and is ready to work for the interest of Nigeria. Instead the man pulls off an incredible act of treachery that will not be tolerated anywhere else in the world yet some are supporting him without realising that sometimes, regardless of our affiliations, we must admit that good is good and bad is bad. As simple as that.

This can be likened to someone that is stil live and some persons are planning his burial. Saraki will not be arrested, on Monday his team of Lawyers will go to appeal court to vacate the 'bench warrant' on Saraki citing the case he had earlier instituted against CCB and others.
You can take this to the bank.

With all due respect, I think you are looking at things sentimentally. This is not the GEJ Presidency. Under Buhari, you will not do anything Machiavellian without the approval of the President whether covert or overt. In fact this is the mistake Saraki made to land him in all this trouble. He thought we were still in the PDP days where ambitious Politicians undermined GEJ openly. Do you guys know how a General thinks and what it took to get him that far? Buhari fully appreciates that once you are rubbished without consequences then your authority is eroded and many enemies will be emboldened to take you on. This was what killed GEJ. He could never take on even one political enemy to the end and win to send out a message to other wannabes. The likes of Buhari understand "the art of war" (Sun Tzu). Unprincipled folks like Saraki and GEJ do not.
