In an electronic message sent to SaharaReporters on Tuesday Colonel Gusau said, ''this [message] is to inform the general public in Borno State that a restriction on vehicular movements will be observed during the Eid Kabir celebrations throughout the State.'' All vehicular movements have been banned from use by the general public in Borno State, according to the spokesman for the 7th Army Division of Nigeria Colonel IT Gusau.

In an electronic message sent to SaharaReporters on Tuesday Colonel Gusau said, ''this [message] is to inform the general public in Borno State that a restriction on vehicular movements will be observed during the Eid Kabir celebrations throughout the State.''
The residents within and outside the Borno State capital, Maiduguri, were told to avoid all means of movement such as horses, camels, donkeys, and bicycles.

''All movements using vehicles, bicycles and animals like horses, camels, and donkeys in Maiduguri will be restricted as from Wednesday 5:00pm (1700hrs) 23 September 2015,” the message also stated.
Colonel Gusau also said ''all vehicular movements into and out of Maiduguri town will also be restricted within the period until further notice.''

The decision was in line with the new resolve of the Nigerian Armed Forces to protect Nigerian citizens from Boko Haram and terrorist violence, which continues to mar the northeast of Nigeria. The decision was also an attempt to protect Nigerians during the Eid Kabir celebrations.

The Colonel also urged the citizens of Maiduguri and Borno State to cooperate with these restrictions and report suspicious movements to the nearest security agents.
