Some people just refuse to think for themselves as opposed to regurgitating what they have been spoonfed.
People just need to learn to respect other's beliefs.

People love to talk about things they have no understanding of. ATR followers in my town make a clear distinction between the gods (alushi) and the images (nkwu). The nkwu is nothing but a symbol, and ATR folks understand it to be a symbol. Of course the Christians showed up and convinced us that our fathers were worshipping gods made of wood and clay - and somehow we accepted their 'expert analysis' of a religion they know jackshit about.

Imagine being on a bike with a portrait of Jesus - or my aunt who worships at Synagogue riding through town clutching a framed photo of TB Joshua, and someone says, "Heh, what's the matter? Jesus/TB Joshua can't transport himself?"
