Igbo companies are waxing strong ,those so called traders or petty traders (are now industrialists). kudos to them for making onitsha the biggest market in West Africa and Aba the only place that manufactures every single thing we use from boxers, singlet ,sandals, shoes, suits etc call it Aba made all we want but they are selling and will get there one day,at least they have started exporting their products to togo, ghana and benin plus cameroun thats a good start for now. Then Nnewi motor parts and Industrial manufacturing estates, Alaoji Aba small engines fabrication and motor parts markets, Coal Camp Enugu artisans and Emene Industrial Estate in Enugu, Abakaliki and Afikpo commercial rice production and commercial agricultual estate are positioning Igbos for future economic transformation. Ikeja Computer Village - The Largest IT market in West Africa IGBO INVENTED AND DOMINATED COMPUTER MARKETS ACROSS NIGERIA - Ikeja computer village makes Ikeja itself stand out from other towns in Lagos, the so-called largest IT market in West Africa. Like other well known markets in Lagos it is very busy and rowdy. But it differs greatly from other markets in that it is home to the major dealers of Mobile Phones and computers as well as their accessories. The computer markets have expanded to Abuja, Onitsha and Aba where you can buy all major ELECTRONICS, PHONE, mobile devices and computer accessories, soft wares and hard wares How computer village came about The present location of this market was a residential area until late 1999 or early 2000 when Internet technology became a household name in corporate Nigeria. Knowing that a major industry was about to spring forth, savvy businessmen Igbo business men took position in the most vantage location of Ikeja – Otigba Street to commence trading in IT equipments and devices. By 2003 a year after GSM services were introduced to Nigeria, computer village had become a household name among Telecommunication users, especially small businesses and end users.

African Traders in Guangzhou, China: Routes, Profits, and Reasons Yang Yang The traders today mainly come from Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Cameroon, Senegal, Kenya, and Tanzania. The majority are identified as Nigerian Igbo, who are mainly Christians from Nigeria・s eastern regions. Compared to their other African counterparts, these Igbo usually stay for longer periods in China and sometimes manage to open multiple shops in China, earning a reputation of being •very good at business.–My Igbo friends said that they had to be good at business to survive, •If you want to know about Igbo, you need to know the history of the Biafran War– a Nigerian ethnic war in the late 1960s which resulted in the mass expropriations of Igbo wealth and property. •We became the poorest ethnic group and we could not enter good entry-level jobs because we were discriminated against. So Igbo had to stand on their own feet and make profits from whatever possible means,–one trader in Guangzhou said. Here is the story of another trader: http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/ant/ PostgraduateForum2011/Econ/ YANGYang.pdf

http://www.ijhssnet.com/journals/Vol_2_ No_12_Special_Issue_June_2012/27.pdf International Journal of Humanities and Social Science Vol. 2 No. 12 [Special Issue - June 2012 Nigerian Motor Transporters since the 1920s OLUBOMEHIN O. Oladipo, PhD QUOTE "Another positive development in the history of the road transporters in post- colonial Nigeria is the entry of big time Igbo transporters into the transport business. They owned luxurious buses which plied different routes to the northern and western part of the country from their base in Igbo land. This is a new factor of change in the transport sector and indeed, in the evolving history of the road transporters in Nigeria. The pioneers in this respect included individuals like D.D. Onyemelukwe, J.C. Ulas, Louis Philip Ojukwu and Chief Augustine Ilodibe the owner of the popular transport outfit known as "Ekene Dili Chukwu". Other transporters were Chidi Ebere, Izuchukwu and Chief C.N. Okwunwa. The new entrants into the road transport business in Eastern Nigeria include the owners of Emenike Motors, Micmerah International Agency, G.U.O. Okeke transport service, F.G. Onyenwe, Dan Dollars, The Young Shall Grow Motors and ABC Transport Service (Iweze, 2011). Of these luxurious bus enterprises, ABC Transport has witnessed a most phenomenal growth, with the company employing many Nigerians and the outfit spreading its transport services from Nigeria to the West African sub-region. A very good example is the Eastern Nigeria based transporter, Mr. Frank Nneji who is the owner of the popular transport service known as Associated Bus Company Ltd. (ABC Transport). The company operates on routes not only within the country but also along the West African sub-region. Mr Nneji is a Biology graduate from a Nigerian University. His transport business is a leader in the inter-city road transport business in Nigeria. (Adekunle and Kasumu, 2005: 26-42). Perhaps because of their level of education, graduates like Mr. Nneji who have gone into the transport business appear to be doing very well As part of their contribution to the growth of the national economy, the road transport workers have continued to provide millions of naira in revenue to the government through the payment of various duties for hackney permits, drivers‟ licenses, vehicle licenses, vehicle plate numbers and insurance, to mention just a few. In all, we can say in this particular regard that the transporters have served as partners with the government in the process of national economic development. by International Journal of Humanities and Social Science Vol. 2 No. 12 [Special Issue - June 2012]230 The Nigerian Motor Transporters since the 1920s OLUBOMEHIN O. Igbo companies are waxing strong ,those
so called traders or petty traders (are now
industrialists). kudos to them for making
onitsha the biggest market in West Africa
and Aba the only place that manufactures
every single thing we use from
boxers, singlet ,sandals, shoes, suits etc call it
Aba made all we want but they are selling
and will get there one day,at least they have
started exporting their products to
togo, ghana and benin plus cameroun thats
a good start for now. Then Nnewi motor
parts and Industrial manufacturing estates,
Alaoji Aba small engines fabrication and
motor parts markets, Coal Camp Enugu
artisans and Emene Industrial Estate in
Enugu, Abakaliki and Afikpo commercial rice
production and commercial agricultual
estate are positioning Igbos for future
economic transformation. Despite the lack
of genuine government support from the
Federal or State Government; these Igbo
brand products are dominating and making
waves in all sectors of life in Nigeria and
West Africa

"In the three years of the war necessity gave birth to invention. During those three years of heroic bound, we leapt across the great chasm that separates knowledge from know-how. We built rocket, and we designed and built our own delivery systems. We guided our rockets. We guided them far; we guided them accurately. For three years, blockaded without hope of import, we maintained all our vehicles. The state extracted and refined petrol, individuals refined petrol in their back gardens. We built and maintained our airports, maintained them under heavy bombardment. Despite the heavy bombardment, we recovered so quickly after each raid that we were able to maintain the record for the busiest airport in the continent of Africa. We spoke to the world through telecommunication system engineered by local ingenuity; the world heard us and spoke back to us! We built armored cars and tanks. We modified aircraft from trainer to fighters, from passenger aircraft to bombers. In the three years of freedom we had broken the technological barrier. In the three years we became the most civilized, the most technologically advanced black people on earth."
