Khedira was injured last season and that was why Madrid decided to play with Central midfieders like Modric, Kroos to cover for their defence

They also got a Brazilian Lucas Silva and also had Illaramendi who can play the role

WHen Madrid wanted to play a more attacking style they play 2 CM in Kroos and Modric.

WHen they face top sides they change it up.

If you watched Madri last season you would see their formation depends on who they are playing vs Physical sides like Atletico and Juve 1st leg they played Sergio Ramos in midfield

It was when they needed to attack Juve in the second leg that they played 2 CM

If kroos could confirm by himself he was playing defensive role as a midfielder now in real Madrid as against when he was in Bayern, do you need to bring a make-shift introduction of ramos to play in a 4-4-2 formation in a match to disprove the fact that Kroos confirmed to be enjoying his new dm role at Madrid?
