One of my sister's friend is at the verge of committing suicide. She is 39 years old, a graduate, single, with no job. She depends on her siblings for survival and most of them have abandoned her. She called my sister tonight telling her that she is depressed and would commit suicide. She stays in Ibadan. She doesn't mind getting a job - no matte how meagre the pay is or doing business.

She never serious. Is she the only 39 year old jobless lady in Nigeria? Nigeria is a tough place to survive in but we still dey. If she thinks forming to commit suicide will blackmail people into helping her, she no really serious.

The truth is life is never fair. I quite understand that in other climes she probably would want to retire or perhaps a grandmother. But the truth is she have to face reality because it is only in Nigeria that the economy help in readjusting your pockets and learning how to survive as a result of hunger.
Questions
1. Does she have a skill or certificate? If yes? Has she worked before or put the skill into use?
2. Realistically speaking, she can walk into any store-shop assistant, food outlet-waiter, school- cleaner/nanny, firm-janitor or organization-receptionist and do a lesser job than her qualifications, but truth be told, they may not accept her because of age but if she can prove to them that there is no correlation between age and ability, she's in.
3. Been single at that age........ I don't know what to say, yeah!!! Times are hard but only the strong survive. She should learn to look good, let her blood group be B+, socialise even women married at 40 look very good, be active in church gatherings, naming, birthday or house warming, yes they will call you names, don't let that bother you, rather, it should spur you.
4. Finally, Always thank God.

My dad used to say that anyone who tells people he/she wants to commit suicide is never ready to commit suicide.
