I don't usually go to church with my bible and jotter. I always prefer to go with my tablet or android phone. So today, I went with my android phone and when it was time for sermon, here comes this busy body usher

Note: I was typing the message as fast as I could on my note and making reference to the bible where necessary still on the same phone.

So, the usher walks up to me and politely warned me of using the phone while service was on. I tried to explain to him and I even showed the content of what I was doing with the phone. He insisted I put my phone in my pocket that he would get me a piece of paper and pen. So, I grudgingly obliged.

Later in the sermon, pastor asks everyone to turn to his bible to read a particular passage together, but there was a little delay in projecting the passage on the screen so I opted for my phone again and the busy body of an usher came again like he was monitoring me from a distance and was now warning me that I should respect myself if I won't want to be embarrassed that the directive is from the pastor. I was so infuriated but kept my cool as I was in the House of God and I won't want to create a scene such that people might think I'm possessed and the whole church conducting a deliverance section for me.

The annoying thing is that our pastor uses his tablet too some times although I didn't see him use it today. My question is in a situation where by an usher sees what ure using your phone for, why does the church still prohibits its usage as me for one, my speed on my keys is immeasurably comparable to my use of a pen. I'm also aware some people might use their phones for a wrong means but in the case I explained above, is it a sin to use one's phone or tablet for jottings?

Maybe it was the directive from the Church, that there should be no hand held device.

On a visit, to my hometown in the Niger Delta last year.

This Cousin of mine insisted I follow her to Church, so I followed her to her Church, it was Winners Chapel.

I kid you not, I was quite taken a back when I walked in and nearly everybody inside the Church was reading from their Tablets/Ipads.

It was a very humbling experience. I did not even know you could do that in a church, and I did not even know that such devices were easily obtainable in Nigeria, as I had erroneously thought only those well to do could afford them.

Just follow d rules and regulations of the church if u must worship dia.

OP, If u check very well, na Nokia 3110c dat usher dey use. So practically, dat usher has reason to b jealous n angry.

Worship is a thing of the mind. Not like we're in some barracks. You don't force someone to worship God. Its a heavenly matter that's why we are different from moslems and Like my late dad used to say, you're free to do whatever pleases you so far your actions doesn't affect other people wrongly otherwise the reaction would be decided by all those affected and looking at the scene, I don't see wherein I have contravened this.
