Who has heard of the GTX 980 for notebooks. I checked the benchmarks for the gpu. And this thing can almost stand toe to toe with the desktop GTX 980. Just imagine the raw power of a desktop GTX 980 in a laptop

Thevspecs aren't dat great jor. And dat Gpu is on the weak side. Ur 740m performs better dan my 820m.

I've played so many games on it na. Most games run on it from low to medium settings. Fifa 15 is the only game that i play on high setting.

But i'm currently playing Witcher 2 and Company of Heroes 2.

Personally i've noticed dat the strongest Nvidia gpus are the ones dat end wit 50, 60, 70, 80. Wit 80 being the strongest. The very first number in those gpus is literally irrelevant.

Yeah, from the 50s upward they are branded by Nvidia as gaming Gpu, while the 40 downward are called multimedia gpu set. The first number signifies the architecture of the Gpu .eg.The 900s are called Maxwell architecture, the 700 are called Kepler architecture and with each successive iteration of architecture comes better optimization which leads to about 10% increase in performance.

Yes it is, but you'll also have to watch out for the type of RAM being used on the GPU; is it the faster GDDR5 or the slower, and more bottleneck prone DDR3 variant. Once you know all these you'll be picking Nvidia GPUs like a champ.

It's less than an 8% difference and we have to also take into consideration the laptop chips and board, mobile processor, cooling, storage etc in the laptop tests so these I believe cap the card's performance, the card itself is beast.

Nvidia's naming scheme puts the model level on the second number while the first number defines architecture. 780, is higher than 950. Like that. But most people don't know this and even in laptop sales, you can get a better GPU in a laptop at a cheaper price based on this because everybody thinks about the first number.

The first number is not irrelevant na, it is how you separate Keplar from Fermi and maxwell, but yeah, it is mostly irrelevant as far as people are concerned. But you're right on the rest though.
E go even shock you say GTX 280 from 2008 is mostly better than GTX 850M from 2014. Nvidia be confusing consumers like crazy.

The amount doesn't really matter. A 2GB RAM card with DDR5 memory is still better than a 4GB RAM card with DDR3 Memory. Besides, for Nvidia's lower memory cards, you still have GeForce experience that does insane optimization. And yeah the middle number is the determinant.

The performance is also on a level with the desktop GTX 980. Due to the different cooling solutions, the long term performance may be slightly lower compared to a well cooled desktop, but Nvidia assures only small degrades in performance.

I know a guy who wanted to buy a PC and he got all excited coz he saw one wit a gtx 850M going for like 220k. And there was also anoda PC wit a gtx 770M going for like 210k. The guy was a complete noob. If not for me he'd ve wasted an extra 10k on buying that 850M

Yeeee no o, I saw in one of linustechtips videos that the GPU has been fitted into a laptop that I don't think has a base thicker than 20mm so it could probably make it's way into the HP envy or Dell XPS form factor.

Anyone know any upcoming triple A game with native Directx 12 support?. I know Amd is working with Eidios Montreal on Deus Ex- Mankind Divided but aside that i dont know of any.

If Direct X 12 performs as expected, the ball might pass on to AMD as AMD has a better performance gain compared to Nvidia.

Unfortunately your system's GPU and CPU combo might not allow you to play GTA V or Metal Gear.
The CPU is less powerful than a third generation core i3 CPU, while the GPU is equivalent to an intel HD4000 GPU. It might be good for multimedia, but it will struggle massively with PC games.
