I was wondering what line up Barca can adapt now Messi and Rafinha wouldn't be available. I can't have Munir or Sandro starting important matches like tomorrow's and then they'll be messing all over the place, missing sitters and hoping we'll forgive them because they are youngsters.

I wouldn't even have iniesta play there there because it would mean less option in midfield.

I'll rather have Alves play in Messi's position because he has penchant for playing right wing instead of his traditional role anyway. Roberto, who's clearly better than Alves now in right back position, should continue there. Alves understands Messi role for the team. I'm sure he can replicate some of them.

You are right. But I wouldn't want it to be the traditional 4-3-3. I would love it to be a 4-4-2 formation, but with Alves playing as a right winger. Also, Suarez playing as a 9 and Ney playing a free-role.

Alves would cover up as a right winger cum right MF, while Iniesta would play as a left MF cum left winger while having Rakitic and Busi as the other 2 midfielders. Rakitic playing a bit advance from Busi who would be playing from the deep.

Just thinking though. I think Lucho really needs to work something out for effectiveness and better results.

4-4-2 is Epl style. I I don't know if it would work for us. But 4-3-3 with Alves replacing Messi and Roberto replacing him looks very straightforward to me.

Formation shouldn't always be straight forward. Both formations are good but i think the 4-4-2 is quite better.

Which can easily become a 4-3-3 as the game progresses and you discover that your opponent's midfield is weaker than your expectation.

Busquets and Mascherano in the midfield is a no for me..we attack less each time we use a double pivot.
