I spotted the above poster on the Facebook page of President Buhari’s special adviser on media and publicity Femi Adesina. Dare I say, it was posted by a commentator.
I found it fascinating. I find politics in Nigeria disturbing, amusing and unprogressive.
Politics in Nigeria is not about serving, its about making money.
Buhari has come to sanitise how politics is played, unfortunately, time is not on his side. I would be surprised if he goes for a 2nd term, but more importantly, what is he is able to achieve in his 4 years tenure?.
I am sure, he would have felt the handicap to do more swiftly much more as an elected leader than a military leader. There are many things he can’t even think of enforcing as an elected leader. The onus is now on how Buhari is able to navigate the political pollution to get Nigeria to, at least the gates of the promised land, if not the promised land itself. This to me, is his major challenge.
The party in power, the APC has been bedevilled with, what appears to be insurmountable crises. How these would play into the hands of President Buhari remains to be seen. For instance, Buhari has hidden his distaste for ‘noise makers’ disguised as ministers. Left to him, the civil and public servants are doing a professional job. Should Saraki lose his position as the Senate President, how would this affect the passing of Buhari’s ministerial list at the National Assembly? A lot of politicking and I bet you, Nigerians are loving it, well, so it appears to me.
