I thought the rightful thing to do is for the governor's wife to take him to court. The police I believe have no reason to arrest him. It is simply a case of defamation of character a civil case.

Why is everybody condemning the blogger, you guys have not even heard the guy side of the story.

Did you hear what the police is saying, they have arrested and detained the guy before investigation, what should
have being the other way round.

I am not saying the guy is innocent or not, that for the court to decide.

In normal society police would have done investigation, find evidence, arrest and charge him to court.

And to all of you feeling happy because of the guy arrest, i just pray you won't fall victim of this system.

Let follow normal procedure please.

Those of us who know sf Ojo, know that he deserves whatever is befalling him right now.

This guy has been carrying false news about Ogun State since Amosun's tenure began four years ago. He had been warned over and over again. He thinks the likes of Gbenga Daniel who had been backing him will suffice.

I personally had to delete him off my facebook list of friends when he kept becoming a nuisance especially during the last elections and he was campaigning for GEJ to return as the best President of Nigeria. I knew he was just an 'alatenuje' social media poster.

Now he is claiming that his facebook profile was hacked, and some mischievous elements planted the story on his facebook newsfeed.

I could have helped his case with the State Government, but he really needs to learn his lesson and go dust up his Mapoly certificate and make himself useful after this incident.

Eleweran is not an easy place to easily get out from once your case has been transferred there.

What you don't realize is guilty or not guilty, they can't kill him.

And when he come out, his blog will even become more popular, it happens
to many well know bloggers around the world.

For instance i never heard of him before, but know i am on google
searching for his names in order to find his blog.

Beside by what you are saying, the arrest has political undertone.
This case won't see the light of the day, mark it.

PS: Didn't i said it, they are making the guy a celebrity "
Isiaka, right groups condemn arrest of Amosun’s critic, Ojo"

See the front page of Google when i type the guy name, all Nigeria major newspapers and bloggers
are carrying the news:

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the arrest on the telephone, said Ojo is being detained at the command’s headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for questioning.
Vanguard gathered that Ojo was arrested for a story exposing the alleged quizzing of Ogun State first lady, Mrs Olufunso Amosun, in London for money laundering.
Ojo was said to have been trailed and arrested on Saturday and detained at Ibara Police Station, Abeokuta for wrongly accusing Mrs. Amosun.
She has since denied being involved in any money laundering saga.
Adejobi said the command received a complaint from the state government about the blogger, which led to his arrest.
Adejobi said investigations on the matter are ongoing.

Just because the use of the internet is now virtually free does not mean jobless people can sit in their bedrooms and make up all sorts of stories because they want to direct traffic to their useless blogs.

Nigerians want accountability from their leaders but refuse to do the same in their own affairs.

Just the other day, a notorious illiterate on Nairaland opened a thread falsely accusing the APC of closing his Facebook accounts. In my opinion, he should have been invited by the security agents to provide evidence of his claim.

Freedom of speech is guaranteed by the constitution but also, individuals have to account for their statements if they are false.

Now, a precedent has been set. Hungry bloggers- BEWARE!

I agree with you but let me be specific to this story and point out "the holes" in Police action.

The Blogger REPORTED an EVENT that happened in London ... and the wife of the Governor, who was the principal accused, reported the matter to the Police.
The Police did not INVESTIGATE whether the allegation was true or not but went on to arrest the Blogger and lock him up at Elewe eran Cell!..
..pending investigation!

Did you read that with me?
*Could the Police not INVESTIGATE FIRST before making any arrest?
*Was it necessary to "lock up" the first ........before investigating?
Are you aware that Mrs Amosun was ACTUALLY QUIZZED IN LONDON over money laundering .... which is what the blogger "ONLY REPORTED"?
What if it turned out to be true that she actually laundered money to London.... is the Police simply going to apologize to him and ask him to go or are they going to also arrest and lock up Madam Governor's wife, pending further investigation?
Is this not a case of "overzealousness and abuse of power" on the part of the Police?
Is her "denial" enough ....and only proof that she did not lauder money in London?

Would Mrs Amosu ask her own Police to arrest bloggers located in London who also got wind of the quizzing by British Police, of her laundering activity?
Is "reporting a REAL LIFE EVENT THAT REALLY HAPPENED.... now a criminal offence in journalistic parlance?

Let it be known that the Blogger is not guilty of Anything.
An event happened (Mrs Amosun "was quizzed in London" for laundering $300,000, by the British authorities) ... and the Blogger simply relayed or reported what happened in London! How is that a criminal activity to require him being locked up?

Mrs Amosu is going the way of tyrants!
She should go and lock up the British authorities for quizzing her, not a hapless Blogger in Nigeria.
All Bloggers and men of conscience need to take this up with the United Nations Human Rights body, Reporters without borders and other NGO's that fight for freedom of expression.
The Bloggers action did not express anything that did not happen nor did he manufacture the story.
Mrs Amosun is abusing her power as the wife of the Governor and the Ogun State Police Command have become "a tool in the hands of oppressors". Governor Amosun MUST call his bedroom appendage to order otherwise, he would go the way of Goodluck Jonathan whose wife became his biggest "political enemy and Achilles heel"

I will ask interested parties to petition the British authorities and the UN and other relevant bodies if Mr. Ojo is not released immediately.
You may think that it serves him right but l tell you, "what is wrong is wrong" (as long as he did not defame her or manufacture the story).... tomorrow, it could be anybody's turn to be SILENCED

If at all the Police are convinced that he has infringed the law ............
(l dont actually care whether he is GEJ supporter, though l am an APC/Amosu supporter),
...........they should charge him to court the next day or grant him bail immediately, to be presented to a Judge when they deem it fit.
We cant continue to allow VIP's to be using the Police to intimidate other people.
That is not democracy!

It has gone from defamation of character now, which is a court/legal matter before a Judge ... to Police intimidation, harassment and illegal detention.
Police should be sued, by Ojo, after his release.

You have spoken well but your kind of statement is one of the reasons dictatorship is encouraged in Africa. Admittedly, there is no absolutely freedom anywhere.

How many times have you heard Obama arrest anyone to provide evidence of false article written against him? Don't you know that a lot of stories are fabricated against Obama?

Do you that the blogger can never prove his case the government in Nigerian system? How many Nigerians in the past have been successful in court, especially with police involvement against the government in power in Nigeria? So you will come back and type that the blogger was guilty.

Even Dele Giwa would have been silent in the court or through the use of police had the powers that be wanted it that way as proven in the Buhari's regime between 1983 and 1985.

We all know the story of Ibori. In Nigeria, he was discharged and acquitted in our court. Who knows whether the governor wife's case is over or not over in London. Her denying any involvement in money laundering does not make her innocent after all most of our governors who are usually court in the act are always doing same at first.

I'm not in any guise encouraging bloggers to dent anyone's image because of having easy access to internet but remember that in every / most rumor(s), there is an element of truth.

My submission is that outright condemnation of the blogger is undemocratic and uncivil.

A Blogger is someone who blogs (writes) for a Blog (which is an online news/information website).
The Blogger writes/Blogs for such website by putting stories, events, opinions on various matters on such website (The Blog)for others to read and/or comment on.

In simple turainshi: A blogger is an online writer for a Blog(website).

I cannot find the story anywhere else other than Nigerian sources. Did the British Police connive with Amosun 's wife to keep the story secret from everyone else other than Ojo, the arrested blogger?

Before we even consider that Mrs Amosun may be guilty, does anyone have a link to any non Nigerian news outlet talking about this "quizzing"?

A similar thing has happened before concerning Ajimobi's wife. The newspaper was sued and they apologize to the woman along the line.

This is utter rubbish!

The laws are simply clear on how to punish those who misuse the right to freedom enjoyed by every Nigerian as enshrined in our constitution. Firstly the offenses of freedom abusers must be be identified, then charged to court immediately. Our law specifies no Nigerian should be held for more than three days for any alleged infraction for more than three days without being arraigned before the court.

The police should be telling us the charges against this blogger and when he will be charged to court. Governors, not even the President, are not empowered by law to arrest any free citizens for allegations.

Fayose has been pouring venom and putting-up distorted adverts on Mr. President in the last months but the President in-spite of his enormous powers has not taken much interests in his despicable acts.

El-Rufai had an exception to a publication by a blogger and he immediately dragged them to court.

Bloggers and everyone has a lesson to learn that twisted information should not be sent out without proper verification but a democratic State should not be seen to be intimidating whistle blowers and journalists.

Every reasonable Nigerian should see to this young man being arraigned within the constitutionally stipulated period of time or be released unconditionally.
