I do not like the Senate President and can't wait to see him off that seat. However, I must admit that was a really good and properly scripted speech.

He clearly does not want to join issues with PMB. He tactically exonerates the president from his CCT ordeal and also commits to work with the president to advance the country. He even enjoins his fellow Senators to treat the ministerial list with dispatch.

I know most of the people that have commented so far didn't even read the whole article. cheesy cheesy

Well, so far so good, a very good speech. It captured the main events in the country, Africa and the world at large. And I also love the fact that he didn't dwell too much on his trial, but also made sure the distinguished Senators understood that he is being tried because he went against the party to emerge the president of the Senate.

In a way, he is trying to tell them that 'I might be the one being hounded today, but then, it might be you tomorrow'.

That said, I can't wait for Buhari's ministerial list. May God help anyone who has a little blemish on that list. This Senate will literally chew them up and toss them out.
is a drama one must watch

On this note, I want to urge you all my colleagues to ensure that what is uppermost in our minds as we begin the constitutional task of screening of ministerial nominees is the overall interest of our country, informed by the enormity and the urgency of the challenges before us. Once the list is submitted, let us ensure that we treat it with dispatch
This is what we have been telling Chuckwudi. This bunch of corruption-inclined and tainted lawmakers cannot stand in line of a popular Presidency led by Buhari.

Clearing Ministers with dispatch is not an acceptable atonement for corruption charges. We the impoverished masses want to see you defend yourself. We want to see you acquitted or convicted. We also want to see your colleagues coming clean or punished of allegations brought against them by the State.

Saraki is softening, he better humble himself and place Nigeria above his selfish interest.

Apt speech!

Covered nearly everything, no mention of his personal travails. I like.

The laws of Nigeria do not give any consideration to any other forces outside the Senate in the election of its President. And to yield the ground on this note, is to be complicit in the subversion of democracy and its core principles of separation of powers as enshrined in our constitution. This is why we must once again, commend President Muhammadu Buhari, for refusing to interfere in the election of the National Assembly leadership even in the face of enormous pressures on him to do so. He has proven quite concretely that he is indeed a born-again democrat.

Don't worry, he will not interfere in your CCT trial and when EFCC finishes preparing your SGB and other fraudmatters, he will still not interfere. Before i forget, the police file on your forgery of the senate rules is still open (not sure). In a nutshell, iga na. You must go.

We Nigerians need to come together to form Alliance to support Buhari's stands on corruption, we can't fold our arms and allow corrupt senators stand on his way. Lets come together quickly as possible, if the senators represents only their pockets against Buhari's stance on corruption, then we recall all the senators back. We voted for Buhari and the work does not stop there, we need to stand by him till the end, the senators have nothing to offer to us apart from their family interest. Time to act is now. We need a meeting.

Blah blah blah. Looters, killers, gun-runners chewing who? Everyone on that list has been thoroughly screened by relevant security agencies. Expect the same boring routine:

Could you read your cv out? Could you sing the National Anthem? What about the national pledge? In your capacity as blah blah blah your organization has been alleged to blah blah blah - can you defend your roles? Do you understand the constitutional requirement of blah blah blah

They will just give us some dramas to pretend they are relevant.

Nominees will make mistakes, get irritated but everyone on that list shall resume at their duty post "at the fullness of time". That wont stop the state from going on with purging the system of corruption and corrupt individuals.

hmmmmmm. 9ja with speeches. all we are after now is 4 d house to get into real business by approving the ministerial list as soon as it is sent to the house 4 proper screening. we need to progress as a nation. doing this will surely go along way for the house after all this long holiday since inauguration.
