Why not ask yourself in what capacity did El-Rufai come across these figures?
Better still write to your senator or representative to request for the figures in the annual budget of the stated years.

First, lets give El-Rufai the benefit of doubt, even though there may be no evidence or truth in it.

The real problem is the ability for Nigerians to know when figures are rolled out for cheap political gains. Its a shame that most educated people on the forum have not asked common sense question; who were the sponsors of independence day celebration during GEJ administration? Was the expenditure from government coffer? The money came from private organizations who had confidence in the administration and Nigeria.

PMB has to build that trust so that private organizations would have the confidence to support him and the nation as a whole in situations like this. That low expenditure figure is an indication of lack of support occasioned by private investors lost of confidence in the economy. Are you aware that Nigeria economy is going down by more than 3% by the end of this year?

Body language would not solve the problem. The analysis is simple, those expenditure figures show that PMB is gradually being isolated by the big players in the economy.

I guess Mallam Nasir El-Rufai was minister of the FCT for the period spanning 2003-2007, and what ever sum was earmarked for expenditure during this period were expended by the Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory Administration which he exclusivy headed........we'll very much appreciate him telling us how much was expended too for each of these years on the celebrations commemorating our independence.
It smirks of blackmail to leave out his own morbid roles in this perfidy.........

Yeah, you are right. But my biggest problem is that upon all this money been saved and even for the past 4 months, i expected that change should be dramatic since we are told that the earnings of the previous govt is mind boggling. I hope after all this noise making about closing all the loop holes of corruption shall trancend to awesome visible change. Nigerians are still groaning. We want change not just sensationalising what you are doing differently without a significant change from the previous govt. Previous govt was corrupt ie Poverty. Buhari's govt is fighting corruption, cutting all cost of governance yet thesame Poverty is growing. Something is wrong.

Ooh! its disheartened to know this, but El Rufai u were in Obj govt is that why u limited the Independence day celebration expenditure only to 2011? Why not from 1999 we started practicing democracy. To me u are totally sentimental and only out there to damage Gej image.

Apc/Buhari did the same by limited their probe on Gej's regime only, why not extent it to Obj regime the period Efcc were established which has thousands of cases at hand against many politicians and business men/women, before Gej came on board as a president .

Sometimes when i think about this country vis-a-vis the way past leaders and regimes have heartlessly sucked this nation consistently, my heart bleeds and my soul quivers with pain. I really can't fathom why not even a single regime has deemed it fit to make a radical positive change. Does it mean the nation and it's people are so cursed that nobody can take the initiative to do things differently? Are these leaders not aware of developments happening outside the Nation? Can't somebody just rise up and decide to act differently for the good of all and not just for his self-serving interests? Why must the emphasis always be on sucking the nation dry. Why?
