Nigeria ex-governor James Ibori 'freed on bail'

Nigerian political powerbroker James Ibori has reportedly been freed on bail in Dubai, where he was arrested on corruption charges.
The former governor of oil-rich Delta state is accused of stealing $290m (£196m) by Nigeria's EFCC anti-corruption agency.
He has had to surrender his passport to ensure he does not leave the country, officials say.
The UK and Nigeria want to try him on corruption charges, which he denies.

James Ibori, a petty thief who eventually became one of Nigeria's richest men, has received a 13-year jail sentence after admitting fraud of nearly £50m, described by the judge as probably "ludicrously low".

The former governor of Delta state in Nigeria pleaded guilty in February to 10 offences relating to conspiracy to launder funds from the state, substantive counts of money laundering and one count of obtaining money transfer by deception and fraud.

This is the beginning of the end for the criminal. That her passport was seized should send a very clear message to her supporters that the Agency that arrested her has got very credible case against her.

Imagine their head wailer ignorantly starting a thread to suggest that the FG had nothing to do with the arrest despite the transatlantic coordination with the EFCC who were simultaneously raiding her houses. When President Buhari announced that the prosecution of NNPC looters would commence soonest, they screamed propaganda.

The fact that investigations into Diezani spans over 5 countries (much less effort than Ibori) indicates that the prosecution will be meticulous, comprehensive and firm. Even though the UK legal system is lethal to her kind, I would prefer that she is extradited to face Kirikiri.

If Jonathan/PDP had jailed them, there wouldn't be much of a choice to select from as they would have finished locking up the ones you suggest are being ignored now.

Since our judiciary is corrupt, maybe our politicians should be extradited to face trials in countries they have cases in Alamiesigha and Kashamu should travel to the UK and the US respectively.

I hate to see corrupt people, and supporters of corruption.

What I hate most is hypocrites.

You ask for other looters prosecution, but keep protecting those from your party and tribes.

My hatred for looters knows no boundary, party, individual or race.

That boy has returned dumber than he was. If not, no one needs a rocket scientist to know that UK National Crime Agency (or any other security agency for that matter, especially in developed countries) will not just arrest anyone without having petition/report/complain about their criminal practices. And such arrest will not still be effected without some investigations into the matter.

I remember when sometime ago he said PMB should do investigation before probing. TonyeBarcanista is too dumb than I previously thought.
