They are using outdated military tactics they used against Biafran rebels in the Nigerian civil war over 40 years ago in a conventional war.

You could identify Biafran soldiers. But how can you identify Boko Haram terrorists?

The Nigerian military have the capacity to even defeat these ruthless terrorists within 60 days, but only by military intelligence and not by more fire power.
The most dangerous enemy in any warfare is the enemy within and the worst is the one in disguise.
You can identify anyone in the Nigerian Armed Forces, but can you identify any member of the Boko Haram?
The Nigerian military must become members of the Boko Haram if they want to defeat Boko Haram. Otherwise, they cannot end the insurgency.

The political failures of the former ruling party, People's Democratic Party (PDP) caused the insurgency of the Boko Haram.
Did anyone notice that former President Goodluck Jonathan attacked and murdered more members of Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) than the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo?
But he favoured his fully armed kinsmen of the Niger Delta militants.
Why? Because he loved them? No! He was only the stooge of the political mafia of the ruling class in control of the oil blocks and export of crude oil that the Niger Delta militants threatened to destroy and seize from them.
Mr. Jonathan was busy sharing more licenses for oil blocks, importing kerosene and petrol and billion dollar government contract whilst his enemies were busy mobilizing recruits for the Boko Haram and buying them arms, motorcycles and SUVs for their rebellion against Nigeria.
To worsen the critical situation, he was more interested in his public relations with his legions of political sycophants than in the security of poor and powerless citizens of Nigeria.

There is no comparison between Boko Haram & Biafra as it's not easy to fight boko haram a group of individuals who are not fighting for a homeland, they are a religious sect and as such you have to pint point them amongst lots of people unlike Biafra that have a physical territory.

The Nigerian military can not use heavy military platforms against boko haram because several infrastructures etc Will be destroyed, the same with Niger Delta militants but Biafra have a territory and as such the way it is handled is different. Eg check out how America dealt with Saddam Hussein: they dealt with Iraq as a country but check out their military engagements with iraqi shia militants; it was a fight they didn't win.

The Nigerian military can go to war against a country or rebels that have a territory and win but they have to use anti terrorist procedures to fight boko haram because it is not made up of any tribe but few evil people from different ethnic groups and countries.
