The entity called Nigeria has its roots not only in attempted and successful exploitation of a people but also in a shared need for self determination amongst Africans during the colonial years.

This led to the creation of the world's first modern Afropolitan entity; Lagos. Every person is free to determine his or her destiny and our fore fathers may have decided ours for us by working together to keep Nigeria as one.

Secession by any region is possible but will it work? will Biafra, Oduduwa or Arewa be just another burden to carry. Consider there are millions of children right now being indoctrinated into Nigeria not Biafra, Oduduwa or Arewa. What happens to them. Personally I don't see Moha my suya guy filling a visa form to enter Biafra and frankly where will the money to build the country come from? is the ethnic financial arsenal bouyant enough to ensure no regrets. What about the ethnic minorities is your regions? Are Ibibios also Biafrans? Are Itshekiris automatically Yoruba Are the Kanuri or automatically Arewans. In the grand scheme of things, when one group threatens secession, it undermines the freedom of every Nigerian.

Secession is much harder than posting an article about Biafra or broadcasting ethnocentric ideas. That mental energy should be better spent on how your regions can advance. Nigeria may never split atleast not in the your life time GOD willing. You know who else has been wanting to split? Great Britain , how old is their Act of Union again??

The Biafra elites will never support it. Their multimillion investments in the north is more precious than the lives of their families.

Nigeria WILL split.

The question is when and how?

All the evidence you need is splattered all over this political section of Nairaland and other social media platforms where 'Nigerians' get to vent their true feelings. It is all too visible to the discerning.

What is there to stop us? We are not the same people. We do not like each other. We don't even want to live together any more. So what is there to stop Nigeria from splitting? Is is the coming of a fabled great leader that will unite us? Is Pa Buhari the man? I stifle laughter at the thought.

Nigeria will split without doubt. It is only those who love to live in denial who do not see the inevitable. What all should hope for is for that split, when it comes, to be achieved peacefully.

All natural tendencies that support the need for secession are abound in Nigeria and very plentiful too. Nigeria is expeditiously heading toward disintegration. The gathering of combustible events has been with us since Nigeria’s independence and patiently waiting to be ignited.

keep calm
I thought so too
until I saw that east have been making mouth since 2006
so it's only online that there's is undue sensation
the ibos have been whipped into submission from Civil war
the only time I would be worried is if north refuses to support west for president in future
the minute the entire south (east and west) feel shortchanged we will split
but as long as north and west(⅔ )are in cahoots because of oyel moni forget it
no splitting

And when did north and west begin this political coalition? 1999?. Even then, yorubas never wanted Obasanjo to be president. .we chose Olu Falae, North and other sections of the country put Obasanjo there for his first 4 years

2011, Yoruba supported Jonathan...he betrayed the west and even at that many of us (including myself) voted for him in 2015, as we suspected Buhari isnt a changed man

Before all this time West had no tangible dealings with the north. Today the relationship is shaky and just on probation

Don't look at the so called "leaders" ie. The Governors(past and present) forced on us by party(I've always hated party system for states)
Look at the people

Those whose father and themselves failed to achieve in Nigeria are hoping on disintegration to measure up. Sorry its not gonna happen. What will happen is possible massacre against any block that miscalculates its steps.

what yorubas want doesn't count in the scheme of things
same way hausa or ibo man doesn't count
as far as power brokers(useless poiliticians from all tribes) are concerned "yorubas"(vis a vis obj) have been settled
coalition started with apc(lets see how long it will last
jonathan is a dunce so he doesn't count
which system wold you recommend for states(personally i think that all na grammar, they're all the same)
and those governors, like it or not are the "leaders" we have for now(nature abhors a vacuum
they saw an opportunity, they seizedit, they hit the jackpot
you the followers(me don join them for the politics insttead of lamenting like the rest of you) just sat and watched while these rogues are stealing your futures
y'all need to wake and smell som'n fast
