Just came back to give an advice, Runzlord, if You so much want to listen to Real Hip Hop from Nigerian Artists, I would advice You search underground, that's where You get Dopè Hip Hop, forget about Mainstream. Search for Hennesy Artistry 2015, team 1-6 all of the Artists, all Dopè, Blaqbones, Toosleek, DarkPoet, Eclipse, Ozone etc, except Illbliss tho. ![]() |

LeSudAfricaine:Nigeria has the best rappers in Africa even tho most are not doing pure hiphop (which is a good thing IMO) They're many upcoming rappers who will floor those names you mentioned if they are given the chance There is also more variety of rap styles (local lang, english, pigeon) than most other african countries |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by theDEVILisHERE: 10:44am On Oct 05, 2015 |
runzlord:Rap music is indegenous to African americans For you a local artist to impact on your locality with a foriegn style of music you need to add your own local spin to it (both in words and in sound) Case in point the corrent reigning Patwa (reggae/dancehall) artists in the country (Patoranking, Cynthia Morgan, Burna etc) do not speak pure Patwa or do not use pure Patwa sound but are impacting more than those before them (with exception to the 80's/90's reggae artists) cause of their ability to add some local twist to the original sound and language You do the music 4 the people not 4 yourself or your friends You have something to offer The people have what they like/want Find a point where what you offer meets with what the people like/want and deliver your goods |

theDEVILisHERE:I agree, but that does not mean you should change the entire genre of music, see I like this song "yaylow ft lord v - hustle" its hip-hop even if they raped completely in pidgin! Listen to "shalala air by kid konnect" Sounds so african even with a yoruba verse but yet hip-hop. Even the south africans I'm praising its only AKA and Da.l.e.s. Or maybe reason that I know rap in pure english the rest add zulu or rap in full zulu even cassper nyovest. Sarkodie too raps in his local dialect. Only phyno does hip-hop in his own songs, I was only disappointed with "o-set" Downloaded reminisce abulm, out of how many songs? Only local rappers and baba hafusa made sense. The rest......rubbish. |

theDEVILisHERE:Best rappers...yes But not hip-hop is a BAD thing |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by theDEVILisHERE: 12:18pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
runzlord:No it is not a bad thing It is actually what an artist is surposed to do Can you sing pop music exactly like Madonna, lady gaga or Prince as a Nigerian/African artiste and expect people to take you seriously Why then should hiphop be different |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by Nobody: 12:23pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
LeSudAfricaine:Qwesta, kid x, KO, AKA, Cassper nyovest, Solo, Tumi, Ginger Trill, okamakookat, ricky rick, Blacklez.....etc If it comes to creativity and Hipo-Hop I give it to SA But na only punchlines naija sabi. Smh. |

runzlord:You need to broaden your horiezm when it comes to music You thinking process is too 1 dimentional You have to first look at music 4 what it is first of all before you now understand why people make certain type of music |

| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by Nobody: 12:29pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
theDEVILisHERE:Dude! Other artist did it and where bigger than madonna, lady gaga, or prince, being a nigerian does not make your head half of what they have, darey/Bez/timi dakolo does r'n'b just like anyone in the world would do, and they are well doing. Even if we can't do hip-hop like jay-z or kendrick lamar, sarkodie na ghana here he dey o! He does hip-hop and does it well. |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by theDEVILisHERE: 12:32pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
runzlord:You thinking and seeing things through the aspect of the so called "hiphop" alone without you seeing the bigger picture about music in general and as it applies to any given society I gave you you an example with pop music And I ask Why should hiphop be different |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by Nobody: 12:35pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
theDEVILisHERE:Scroll up, I answered with r'n'b! |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by theDEVILisHERE: 12:38pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
runzlord:If your doing music as an artist you cater 4 your local audience first before you think of others Those artist you mentioned are not doing very well if not they will be toping the charts America is not the only country that do music Try listening to the different music and their various styles/ genres done in other countries (asia, europe etc) more often and you will understand what I mean |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by Nobody: 2:07pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
theDEVILisHERE:I don't still see your piont! "Not the girl", was once number 1 on chart, same as "pray for me" is on charts too, chobams ft bez had several nominations in the recently announced headies award nominations, same as well as timi dakolo - wish me well, MI was number 1 on chart with - Bad Belle(hip - hop). In africa charts, real Hip-hop songs are always number one, except now that a song (can't remb the name but vannesa mdee was featured in it) is number 1 and the song is very nice, followed by stanley enow - work hard (real hip-hop) at number 2! Its about making good sounds and top class music no matter the genre, once its good, people would listen, you don't have to make songs to please them(your local people), make good songs and they would like it! After all these same local people listen to international songs! So if our rapper can make good hip-hop they would sell! Its not rocket science! |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by theDEVILisHERE: 4:21pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
runzlord:My point is making songs purely on this foriegn sounds is not sustainable in this part of the world 1 or 2 songs that are purely on those genres will be fine But to do majorly songs that are purely on those genres will not work out in your favour The artist themselves have recognised this I think if the hardcore fans of this genres really want more of the songs they like they should form some sort of union, organise themselves and raise funds for the artists to deliver some of those songs to them |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by Nobody: 7:28pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
theDEVILisHERE:Very funny, nigeria rappers can die for all I care! And let other african rappers dust them like they don't exist! Me I will continue to be a SA music fan even if I don't understand zulu. |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by theDEVILisHERE: 7:38pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
runzlord:Don't hate the player Hate the game Like I said You guys place them on a contract for your songs They will definately deliver Remember they need to eat Hardcore music could eventually usher you into hardcore hunger (you can ask mode 9) |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by Nobody: 7:51pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
theDEVILisHERE:They are not doing it well! If they give their time and do it well they would eat! Even mode 9 is not doing it well! Going hard core is not making hip-hop you can make Good hip-hop with terrible lines and voice and still sell and win awards, ask Stanley enow! |

| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by theDEVILisHERE: 11:23am On Oct 06, 2015 |
runzlord:Stanley enow cannot sell if he's a Nigerian artiste doing the kind of music he's doing now Even Sark, Aka, Casper will struggle with their style in Nigeria Nigerians mostly accept such musci when done by foriengner |

theDEVILisHERE:Is that something to be happy about? |
| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by theDEVILisHERE: 6:20pm On Oct 06, 2015 |
runzlord:Happy or not It doesn't change anything Keep in mind Some Americans could like some african genre of music eg: high life, afro beats, juju, soca etc but they will not take any American artist seriously if they focus on doing PURELY that type of music It is what it is |

| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by Nobody: 10:22pm On Oct 06, 2015 |
theDEVILisHERE:They accepted Nigerian boy....Jidenna Again I say, it about the quality of music you do, no matter where you stay or what genre of music you make, once you make good music you would be accepted. Nigeria Rappers don't make good Hip-Hop. |

| Re: Nigeria Has The Best Rappers But Worst Hip-hop Makers In Africa by LeSudAfricaine: 5:26pm On Oct 22, 2015 |
runzlord:Just how do you differentiate between creativity and punchlines? I can mention a lot of SA mc's who throw punchlines |
