Who has an idea on how to setup a cybercafe.

With the advent of mobile phones, people no longer have need for a cyber cafe. Why would u want to invest in this dead business? After u go begin catch witches. Na wah for you sha.

By getting a shop and throwing computers in it.

Hmmm... That's what you think. But people still visit cafes! How many people have printers? Abi phones have started printing? How many people have photocopiers? You see, the business is still a cool one. Its even better when the design aligns with current styles.


Anyway, op, I can help you with the procurement of devices you need and a network infrastructure, if you want.

In setting up a cyber cafe you'll have to first think of the market in your area.If you don't have enough market all other things will end up being futile.
2.A good ISP is very necessary as your cafe will lose customers within a short time if your services are irregular or slow and your reputation will be ruined.
3.Your cafe equipment
I. Computers: Pentium 4 computers with @least 2GB RAM n 100GB hardisk
II. Flatscreen monitors @least 15inch preferably Dell or HP black (Makes it look more classy)
III.Network switches for interconnection preferably cisco sb switches or mikrokit
IV.A dedicated PC to server as file,print n dhcp server.
V LaserJet printer for black n white preferably Bizhub as it does both printing and photocopy very economical
VI.Deskjet printer for colored

VII. Scanner
VIII. Inverter or UPS for your computers
IX.Passport Photographs printer
X. Digital Camera for printing passports
4.Office furniture
5.Cafe software for timing and selling tickets
6.Labour for installation of computers,Networking,Server deployment etc.

7. Considering 1-6, do you think you will be able to pay rent at the end of the year?

Dont discourage the OP if you dont have good advice for him. If managed properly he can make back his money within 18months. The only major fees would be his yearly ISP charge and he wont have issues paying it if he manages the business properly. You can make deals with companies to do all their photocopies and printing,you can do project research and printing for university students,you can decide to provide internet service for homes and businesses around where you're located its just limitless you just have to plan carefully,so do not disuade the OP.

Mr. Out of the country, I live in Manchester, England and I can tell you that the only cafe you see around here are usually in "poor" neighbourhood or around the post office or the library.

If I may ask, how many years ago did you finish school? If you are talking about early 2000, I will understand that this business might work.

You claim you don't live in Nigeria, how come you know the market so well that you are giving quotes and you are 100% sure it will work? Now you need to shut your mouth and stop saying things you don't know.

Na wah oh for some people sha. Any way both of you are right. Op needs to know what goes around in his area before venturing into the business, he also needs to answer the questions suggested by crisycent and finally use kodesh architectural suggestion to set up the cybercafe if he is okay with his answers.

I use to think the cafe business was dead before now, how wrong i am. With govt agencies like and public institutions like jamb, frsc, vio,lastma,waec,recruiting agencies,nysc,schools,visa application and all putting majority of their services online, many people still throng cafes to get their documents prepared. Op, do a site survey (very, very important) to get the best location for the business.

The OP might have made research before trying to venture into this business! Also, i thought i had everything but when i wanted to do my nysc registration that requires thumb print and some small image size. I locate a cafe by force so it still does exist!
