APC Crisis Threatens Bayelsa Peace –dickson by GovDickson2016(op): 12:44pm On Oct 09, 2015
Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has said that the ongoing crisis in the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress portends grave danger to the democratic fortunes already established in the state.

Dickson stated this during the inauguration of eight new Special Advisers and the General Manager of the Bayelsa State Transport Company, Emomotimi Fanama, in Yenagoa, a statement by his media aide, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said on Thursday.

The choice of a running-mate to the APC governorship candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, had pitted the former governor against the Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe.

On Tuesday, supporters of Orunimighe went berserk, protesting the choice of a retired principal from Forupa in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Wilberforce Igiri, instead of Orunimighe.

The supporters, who felt that Sylva reneged on his promise to make Orunimighe his running-mate, vowed to rock the boat if Sylva failed to rescind his decision.

It was learnt that the name of Igiri had already been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, a development that had sparked outrage in the party.

The new Special Advisers are James Dugo, Chief Bernard Agai, Chief Patrick Osunu, Agatha Goma, Ayobegha James, Mr. Alex Dumbo, Chief Kienyosuote Degi and Henry Orumieyefa.
