The new administration of LASTMA needs to co-operate with the government for better solution instead of
blaming Ambode for stopping them from impounding vehicles .

Ambode na fool ....... He knows "nada" about Lagos ..... Sacking some officials appointed by Fashola and stopping some of the past project is not just the way forward for lagos ...
He's only trying to payback Fashola for not recorgnising his personality when he was working at Alausa and he doesn't know that this game of ballers is controlled by Tinubu himself

Lagosians need serious "iron hand".........

I wonder what he's trying to prove when he said his administration spent #3m below previous administration in the past 4 to 5 months......

We don't care about how much he spent lesser than the past administration, we need to see what you have done and doing

LASTMA Officials are performing an invaluable service in the Transportation Sector
1: Management of Traffic
2: Revenue Generation by ticketing offending motorists.

Number 2 is where the problem lies. LASTMA continues to deceive and connive with corrupt policemen to entrap motorists into situations where they can claim traffic infractions and apply high fees or impound vehicles so victims can be extorted to pay to be released.

The idea is to correct and punish where necessary not ensure conditions that make arrest inescapable.
LASTMA stopped working because opportunities for ill-gained revenue dropped drastically.

Trust Agberos to take over and start arresting-by-scam indiscriminately

Wait and watch Lagosians clamour for the return of Lastma. I wonder why they would be ordered not to impound vehicles, na crase people full lagos roads and na only crase people fit control them.

Abeg restore Lastma to full operations.

This Ambode guy should better learn to govern than just wearing suits with pocket square around.

9jatriot:
When you make a populist rule without thinking of the implication, the same people who urge to make that decision will be the first to stone you.

Leadership is not easy, it means making the correct decisions for others who will not appreciate it. Requires you to be firm not necessarily strong and yet flexible. Its a paradox I tell u but the fact remains people will judge you by your results and not your best intentions or actions.
I think that is the issue Ambode is facing, he is trying to be popular with the people, but it will back fire. The same people will hate him for it. LASTMA over used the power they had, i agree, but i think that is till the best option since it worked to some extent.

They should just stick with the ban of trailers plying Lagos roads during d day. They are d cause of traffic
Taa...maybe on routes leading to Apapa. Reckless driving and unguarded parking is the major cause of traffic here in Ikeja, Iyana Ipaja, Agege, ojuelegba to Yaba. + no access routes.

Please let the Governor allow Lastma to enforce the traffic law.

"According to the lawmaker, representing Epe II Constituency, “the governor, in his wisdom, has urged men of LASTMA to stop impounding vehicles because he believes so much in doing things in a civilised manner."

But here, we have so many educated though not necessarily civilised road users.
There is a serious need for ATTITUDINAL CHANGE.
Can you believe that some are not even comfortable with steady power supply?

Some of the traffic snarls are caused by bad roads ( gully-like potholes )
Check Ebute ERO road at Lagos. You'll understand.

Lastman dey fight Ambode? Can the finger fight the hand? Can the toenail fight the foot? The fact that Lastma's illegalities have gone unchallenged doesn't justify the illegalities.
Exactly !

Those calling the gov. a nicompooc and other names should please explain what gives lastma the right to throw lagos into gridlock, simply because they're not allowed to harass private car owners ?

I noticed the Pple clamoring for LASTMA to continue their evil ways here are LASTMA OFFICERS.believe me those guys are doing nothing rather dey will even ask agberos or even remove their uniform and start misdirect roads users to follow one way saying d normal way is blocked, while others will hide at d one-way side, once u ff their advice u are a gone.the once hiding will rush like bees and in front of u they will drink beer and meat as u pay. secondly if when they do apprend still we still notice traffic every where.those guys are if no usethey are thieves on uniform.they should stick to ticketing like FRSC.PERIOD.

quote me anywhere. those supporting LASTMA ARE either lastma officers or family members of a LASTMA officer.I fell their pain,d dough no dey flow like b4.

95% of lastma are Yoruba people...of which most of them never went for training or course. they are just performing the same role played by agbero. anyway, its only in Lagos this news will emanate

Sincerely speaking, I think Ambodes policy on Traffic law is too lenient and counter productive considering the level of lawlessness in every strata of our present society. If laws are not enforced on the people to the letter , a lot of Nigerians would never comply. My thoughts though.
You are right.

It seems impounding vehicles should return back to enforce orderliness. nigerians are too indiscipline to follow instructions without any force like that.

Many people are quoting different opinions about Ambode softening of power of lastma thereby creating laxity from them and then turning drivers to height of madness, some say Lagos needs highhandedness, some say Ambode is weak, but am not an Ambode fan,but then he has my support on this,Roman 6 vs 1 says are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? pls we have to grow up like other developed countries in social and infrastructural development, and stop these brigandages on the roads,I suggest that traffic offends should carry penalties of #1000-#5000 to scare away offenders, failure to pay it after the grace day will attract #50,000, or impounding whenever the driver is caught through renewing registration or been caught at home or any avenues, is a welcome idea,we have to move forwards,we are no barbarians.

The problem with we Nigerians is that we always think western. We want to do things the civilized way but never realise civilization will always mean different things in the African and western context. This is the root of all our problems. Ambode should stop flexing muscle and let LASTMA do its job. Their style may be crude, but that is the level of our civilization.

The lastma guys impound vehicles basically as an extortion strategy rather than corrective strategy so I agree with ambode on this

Ambode we want, Ambode we know, Ambode till 2023,man of the people, your Govt has human face and feeling, unlike fashola who even deported Nigerians in their own country, this is a civilised way of doing things, people are now paying into the Govt account instead of lastma touts private pocket, this is another way of fighting corruption. Up Ambode.
