cocaineaddict: Very unnecessary choice of words. Totally off point as everybody understood wat AnamCity implied and as it stands today, that is the truth. The Obi of Onitsha has distinguished himself and is now the acting Nri Priest or Eze Nri.(The Custodian of igbo culture.) Nri Priest or Eze Nri has to come from somewhere in igboland and all road at present leads to Onitsha. 1 Like |

Dunce shut up. We are not saying because Obi of Onitsha is the most influential and most powerful KING in Igboland that by that stand he is ruling the whole Igboland. We are saying that he is the foremost KING in Igboland. All other kings with the exception of Eze Nri and Igwe Orizu of Nnewi are all inconsequential village rulers. [s] Chiwude:[/s] |

Dhugal:/ Eze Nri and Igwe Nnewi would come before Obi of Onitsha. But don't forget that Igbo culture has been messed up by moneybags. Without his wealth, Igwe Achebe will not be influential. Just a side note, even some towns today have retired and professional 419ers as Igwe. That's how much Igbo culture has been dismantled. Go figure! / 2 Likes |

GenbIoodykiller: Lmao. And this makes sense to you? Guy,listen very well I can authoritatively state you don't even know the history of Onicha to begin with...Your own Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe said himself Onicha is Igbo. I know your people 4ways and the lies you lots feed on. Suggestion, drop that topic....That are far more informed and educated people on Igbo culture on this thread than you can Imagine. Remember we know who came from where in Onicha the Ogboli, the Igala and the ezechime faction. Don't be stupid. 1 Like |

Dhugal:tell him! There are other Igbo Kings and they too deserve respect. the Eze Nri is one of the custodians of the Igbo culture, yet he is not the foremost Igbo king. @op, celebrate your ofala (which I know so many other igbo's don't celebrate) and accord order monarchs due respect. |

InvertedHammer: Where did Igwe Nnewi come into the picture? Eze Nri or Nri Priest can come from any of the many respectable Royal fathers in Igboland. It should be for a life-time and not hereditary. It can be rotational by distinguished performance, nomination or zoning. 1 Like |

Dhugal:thank you so much for this dear...if i had more than one like i would have given u..simply stated: igbo enwe eze. most ppl.dont know this above igbo proverb is true..nothing makes obi of onitsha foremost igbo king...before now the igbo have been largely living amongst their communities with a king and council of elders just as onitsha is inclusive.think about the great kings of Arochukwu; Ohafia and Edda. the obi of onitsha is just popular bc onitsha is a commercial city. we just have ourselves as igbos bc we came under a bigger body called NIGERIA and our respective cultures in igboland vary greatly and we are somewhat heterogenous and thats why it seems the igbo is naturally un-united in Nigeria. Though i rep obi of onitsha...he's a very well respected king 2 Likes |

Achebe is only recognised in igboland cos of the popularity of onitsha (his jurisdiction). Apart from that he is just as ordinary as the king of ohaozara community in ebonyi state. F00lish idiot like you. Go to hell |

Everyone hold your peace! It is a fact that most of these people claiming to have "most influential kings" are not proper Igbos in real sense. Onitshas are hybrid Igbos whose ancestry is traceable to Benin; a fact that have never been disputed or refuted. They are even more comfortable identifying with Benins than Igbos. For the avoidance of doubt why is he called Agbogidi? What does that mean in Igbo? As for Nri stock, facts are beginning to emerge that they have Igala ancestory. They have been smart to deceive the authentic Igbos with their concocted history of ERI and GAD. I strongly believe that "Igbo enweghi Eze". I make bold to say that most of you making claims of superiority of your king over others ARE NOT NDIGBO. You are either ORU (hybrid) or MBIARA-ABIA (migrants). 1 Like |

That is why seasoned historians seek out the Eze Nri when it comes to authentic Igbo cultural authorities as in https://www.nairaland.com/730776/eze-nri-enweleana-ii-goziri That is why Israels ambassador in Nigeria pay Eze Nri visits regularly. That is why the US ambassador visited Eze Nri sometime last year, bearing in my that Agukwu-Nri is just a village. THUNDER4real: 1 Like |

cocaineaddict: That is not true becos we have kings in Enugu, but they are not popular(powerful) for now. It is down to personality and hard work. That Igwe (Obi of Onitsha) is tall, visible and influential. There have been other Obi of Onitsha but not this powerful. The Obi of Onitsha is working and today is the acting Nri Priest or Eze Nri. Stolen: There is no Igwe of Enugu. Enugu is not a single town. What we have is Igwe Nike, Nike being one of the towns that make up Enugu township. Moreover, Nike people are typical Igbo people with no outside influence. They are not into Kingship worship, and I doubt they had monarchy before the coming of the colonials. Igwe Nike is a relic of colonial manipulation for easier exploitation, it probably grew out of the Warrant chief imposition by the colonial masters. This is probably the same reason we don't have Eze PH, instead the various Ikwerre towns within the PH area have their own kings, who are not that influential, seeing as the Ikwerres are not into Kingship worship and were originally republicans. 3 Likes |
