‘We Kidnapped Falae To Get Money To Celebrate Salah’ -Suspects
The Department of State Security Service (DSS) paraded the two suspected
kidnappers of Olu Falae in front of the press today. The two kidnappers,
Abdullahi Usman and Babawuro Kato, confessed to their crime saying they
did it to have money to celebrate Salah.

The suspects made their statements while answering questions from
journalists at a press conference in the DSS Headquarters.
According to Abdullahi Usman, he initiated the plan for money to celebrate
Salah, but regretted that one of his other accomplices made away with the
N5 million random paid by the family Falae’s release.

Babawuro Kato, who drove the victim on motorcycle from one location to
another, also corroborated these statements but said that he did not know
the identity of the captive and he was not part of the abduction.
Speaking on behalf of the DSS, Abdullahi Garba said that their investigation
has revealed that the abductors were merely criminals, and that the
kidnapping was not because of Falae’s political status or his prominence in
the Yoruba community as speculated by some.

Mr. Garba maintained that the abductors collected a N5 million ransom and
were arrested at Zebra Hotel along Ganaja Road, Lokoja in Kogi State.
He assured Nigerians that efforts are being intensified to ensure that all
those associated with this criminal act will be brought to justice.

Check out the names of the criminals., abdulahi and Co are not Yoruba names. Obviously those are not ondo indigenes.

Then check out the pictures of the suspects. What tribe do they look like?

So If they were actually fulani men and falae earlier complained of having issues with fulani herdsmen, the only simple conclusion would be that these Fulani men arrested are Same as the herdsmen he has issues with. Common, what other occupation do fulanis have in the south except to rear cattles?

DSS are being economical with the truth and you should learn to read between the lines.

Where did the DSS mention or deny their tribe?

They were identified as criminals, which they are.

Does the fact that Osisi-ka-nkwu was a murderous Igbo kidnapper mean he was not a criminal?

Are you confused? Who denied they were criminals? Show me where the DSS mentioned tribe if you are mentally sound.

The only reason average Nigerians (not news reports or DSS) doubted their identity is because Fulani's are not known to be kidnappers, a trade associated with eastern Nigeria. Did the herdsmen take their cows with them to the hotel where they were finally arrested?

Tell yourself the truth, those guys arrested are fulanis and the only occupation fulanis have in the south is cattle rearing.

Herdsmen move in groups. When they go to attack villagers in benue, do they go with their cows?

Can you stop pretending to be ignorant for a minute?

First of all I'm very sure Aliko Dangote, Sayyu Dantata (MRS), BUA etc. who are helping mould the southern economy are not herdsmen.

Then, the people SYNONYMOUS with kidnapping in Nigeria are Igbos. So what is the basis of your argument?

Till now, you have not shown us where the DSS mentioned tribe.

Court remands Fulani herdsman for kidnap
Jul 14, 2015

A Lokoja Chief Magistrate Court has remanded a 33-year-old Fulani herdsman, Umaru Abubakar in prison custody for allegedly kidnapping one Seriki Samaila and demanding N3 million ransom.

The Chief Magistrate, Alhassan Husaini gave the order yesterday in Lokoja on arraignment of the accused.

The Prosecuting Police Officer, Cpl Akinboye Kunle said the victim, Samaila, reported the matter at the Kabba Divisional Police Headquarters upon his release after two days in the kidnappers’ den.

While reading the Police First Information Report, FIR, kunle said that the accused in the company of three others about 3. am on May 27, invaded Samaila’s camp at Oke-Offin, Bunu in Kabba local government and abducted him.

The prosecuting officer added that the four men, one of whom was later identified as Umaru Abubakar, criminally conspired and armed themselves with offensive weapons, including guns and cutlasses, “invaded the camp violently and forcefully abducted Samaila at gun point.”

Explaining further, he said the victim was later taken to an unknown destination in the bush where they tied his hands and feet and demanded for a ransom of N3 million for his release.

He said shortly after, one of the relatives of the victim, Salihu Umar was contacted to pay the N3 million for the release of his brother but he pleaded with them and paid N500, 000 to the kidnappers.

Kunle said investigation led to the arrest of Umar upon identification by the victim and a cutlass and a wooden carved gun were recovered, adding that the other three members were still at large.

Kunle submitted further that investigation into the matter was in progress, as he applied for another date for mention of the case.

In his ruling, the presiding judge, Husaini said he was inclined to transfer the case to its place of origin for the convenience of the parties pursuant to Section 147 of the Criminal Procedure Code, CPC.

Accordingly, the presiding judge transferred the case to Chief Magistrate Court, Kabba, adjourning the case to July 22, for further hearing in Kabba margistrate court.

Fulani herdsmen kill man, kidnap five others in Delta

The police in Asaba on Tuesday said two women and three boys kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen in Umuachi-Afor, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State have been freed.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Office, the kidnap took place on Sunday after the herdsmen invaded the community, shooting sporadically.

The statement, which was signed by Mr. Roland Preston, said it was in the process of the kidnap that one Ossai Oluem, an 18-year-old boy was shot dead.

Preston said preliminary police investigation showed that the Fulani herdsmen had abducted their victims after one Frank Odili from the community had seized a rifle from a Fulani herdsman.

It said the Fulani had insisted on only freeing their hostages if the firearm was returned to them.

The statement said, “One Honourable London Onwuka, in company with two others of Umuachi-Afor Community in Ndokwa East L.G.A of Delta State reported at the Police Station Ashaka that unidentified suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded Umuachi-Afor Community, shooting sporadically, and in the process abducted one Florence Onwuka, 42, Chukwudi Onwuka, 15, Ugochukwu Onwuka, 13, Innocent Ndego, 20yrs, Nwabuaku Beninchukwu, 24 and took them to an unknown destination.

“In the process, one Ossai Oluem, 18 was allegedly shot dead while large/huge sums of money were stolen by the said invaders.”

The police said Odili, whose action sparked the chain of events is at large while efforts were on to arrest the Fulani herdsmen.

“While measures have been put in place to forestall break down of law and order in the affected area, the command appeals to the affected community to remain calm and go about their lawful businesses,” the statement said.

Usman Dan Fodios brother was named Abdulahi

After only a few years of the Fulani War, dan Fodio found himself in command of the largest state in Africa, the Fulani Empire. His son Muhammed Bello and his brother Abdullahi carried on the jihad and took care of the administration. Dan Fodio worked to establish an efficient government grounded in Islamic law. After 1811, Usman retired and continued writing about the righteous conduct of the Muslim religion. After his death in 1817, his son, Muhammed Bello, succeeded his as amir al-mu’minin and became the ruler of the Sokoto Caliphate, which was the biggest state south of the Sahara at that time. Usman’s brother Abdullahi was given the title Emir of Gwandu and was placed in charge of the Western Emirates, Nupe and Ilorin. Thus all Hausa states, parts of Nupe and Ilorin, and Fulani outposts in Bauchi and Adamawa were all ruled by a single politico-religious system. From the time of Usman dan Fodio to the British conquest at the beginning of the twentieth century there were twelve caliphs.
