The Senate has formally confirmed the nominations of a former Lagos governor, Babatunde Fashola, the spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Lai Mohammed, and 17 others as ministers.

The Senate gave the approval on Wednesday after screening the nominees.

Names of 21 ministerial nominees were sent by President Muhammadu Buhari last week.

The president sent additional 17 nominees this week.

The Senate approved the nomination of 19 nominees from the first batch.

Expected....Nigeria Senate can never disqualify anyone

I didn't know people could be asked very silly questions for an important job like Minister of the Federal Republic. It seems the higher the office, the easier the qualification. Youths of 25 years are asked to bring 10 years experience whilst prospective Ministers are asked to 'take a bow and go'. Comedy planet!


The DSP, Sen Ike Ekweremadu asked one of the sensible questions(and they are few!) so far at the screening, directed at Sen Udoma Udo Udoma. His colleagues shielded the nominee from answering it and hurried him out.

The nominee from Plateau didn't know what is punitive nor can he draw a distinction between punitive and correctional, yet he came with the title 'Barrister' and 'corrections officer', which he flaunted with careless abandon.

Abubakar Malami? Gosh! The man did not sound like a senior Lawyer abeg. Sen David Umoru, himself a Lawyer too, asked a good question on point of Law and the nominee kept talking like a layman with a vague knowledge of the law.

Fayemi, Audu Ogbeh, Ogbonnaya Onu, Kachikwu and Fashola have been impressive so far.

if anyone was expecting news other than these then its a pity..
