Private school payin peanut is no longer a story, u are mentioning ikorodu a place where tins are cheap. What of a place in ajah where i stay where tins are costly. A teacher receive less dan 30k (graduate). What wud b their fate. D fact is that our economy is bad, in shambles "if there is any word to discribe that" some pple dont want to go into teaching. But for the fact that school is their last option that can take dem fast, they work @ sch. Most @ times i dont blame them paying peanut, is what they cud offer they giv. I do tell my co staff follow ur passion, if the private school are planing for their sch u plan for ur self. Had it been their is no job crises i guess so many employers will come and beg employees to work for them.

It is true they collect much and pay peanut how do you explain pupils /students paying #35k or more in class of 25 pupil and above yet the proprietor cannot just use the money for 12 to pay the salary of teacher's Govt should look into this it is not just raising taxes the well being of the workers is also important. Pay well instead of running philanthropic project

I dont mean to insult you. Pls only third person singular nouns or pronouns have 's' at the back. For example " He likes food" or " Ade sings very well" others dont. Like " Except schools that charge....." not that "charges". Thanks.
You are a potential English Studies Teacher.

Good advice. Half bread they say is better than nothing, truth be told if the half bread is unwholesome, better to go hungry or you ll simply add to your problems.

You see yourself..... asking a married woman to sit at home because the husband is rich. it shows how you are shallow in reasoning. However, men respect women that work even if I have the whole money in the world. Bill gates wide is not sitting at home, Same with Dangote, Warren Buffet, Carlos slim e.t.c Nigeria women are know to be helpers and not burden of take a cue from that.

yours is better there is a school in kuje Abuja that pays within that range and you write about 12 lesson notes weekly. With 6 classes that's like 2 subjects per class and if you come late or with no reason they can remove 1 week salary

This problem is fixable.
Teachers are not highly paid in most countries. Nigerian teachers are not even being paid livable wages.

The government should build and upgrade schools and make it free for students (bubu can provide lunch for them, like he promised too).
More teachers, smaller classes.

This will cause the most of the smaller street corner schools to close. The only private schools remaining would be top-notch private schools that can pay their teachers.

85m children to educate.

Gross Enrolment ratio at primary school of about 80%.

Gross Enrolment ratio at secondary school of about 50%.

That would mean, at least 60m children in pre-higher education schools (primary and secondary).

Nigeria's annual expenditure on education = less than $4.5bn.

That is less than $75 per child ..............................and this is based on my generous assumption that none of the education budget is going to Universities, Polytechniques and other Higher institutions, just primary and secondary education. grin

If you factor those in, $75 per child would look way too generous.

And you just open mouth yakata say make government "build and upgrade schools, provide it free for students, provide free meals, pay teachers more and higher more teachers"?

With which money?

And while GEJ's government has bankrupt the nation?

Just Lagos alone, forget the other 35 states and FCT, has over 1300 schools with 17000 classrooms. Do you know what it would cost to refurbish and upgrade just those alone?

Other countries in the world have public schools free , secondly there will still be private schools, so not all children will be enrolled in the public schools..
We have the money, we absolutely have the money to fund education in this country.
So we should just lag behind the times because its expensive, education pays off.
Our technological abilities grow and we can learn to manufacture and export more goods.
You would rather our students sit on the floor in leaking classes just because its expensive?

Think about it.

The annoying thing is, the school can afford to pay more, but na one person mouth the money dey enter.

Its a mission, and the proprietor is a MOG.

It's so refreshing to see that there are actually so many people in this country that are concerned about the welfare of their fellow countrymen.

I also worked for a school proprietor who's also a "MOG" but I ended up leaving after he owed me for over 2 months. ever since march this year (2018) when I left, he's been promising to pay-up my 2 months salary-and failing. Though I've moved on and am now working elsewhere, I'm still begging this MOG to pay my 2 months+ salary of 60k. God help some people...
Re: Why Private Schools Pay Peanuts by prycyvynyl: 10:26pm On Nov 27, 2018
Hey guys,

Glad to see the thoughtful comments on this post so far. It's indeed refreshing to see that so many of my fellow Nigerian citizens care enough about the welfare and sufferings of their fellow citizens. This shows that there is still hope for Nigeria.

I know I'm quite late in replying to this post, but I believe that a good reply would be worthwhile, especially to those suffering a similar predicament to mine.

I'm actually commenting here because I don't know what else to do, or how to get Justice done.

I worked for a school proprietor (who, by the way, has lots of schools all over Lagos and some parts of Nigeria). He
was quite sweet-talking before employment, but shortly after joining that School, I gathered (from personal observations and also from overheard conversations among his old members of staff that the proprietor (who doubles-up as a "Bishop"or, maybe "Archbishop of a group of churches) was actually a chronic debtor, in the habit of owing his staff for several months, sometimes running into years!

Although he charges very low school fees (8k upwards to about 15-18k), his pupils/students do pay substantially enough for him to be able to pay His staff(of which many are also his church members and thus, his "loyalists"wink.

Now, I blame myself for ever falling for his initial "sweet-spiritual talking," by which he wooed me into slaving and suffering (at the cost of my health, security, resources and so on) for his corporation, only to pay in piecemeal for the first term, and then paying nothing but (spiritually inspiring) lip service for the first 2 months (Jan.&Feb., 2018), with no salary! When it began to extend into March, I opted out in order to prevent more debts from accruing.

He promised to pay me since the same March but up till today, all I hear from him are promises to pay.

although i now work elsewhere, I still need my 2 months salary-I worked for.

I feel so helpless, as I don't know how to get justice done. I have no solicitors/attorneys to help persuade this Bishop(fondly called "Daddy" by his church-.members/staff), to just pay me my 60k which I worked for, out of his fat pocket of income. it's been over 8 months now, yet he's still "posting" me!

please, any suggestion(s) on how to get this man to pay me would be a huge relief, and most appreciated.

Thank you for the (anticipated) help!
