This op didn't know the difference between small-time swindlers and the real 'one chance' maestros. You are in a one chance situation when you're relieved of ur valuables-cash,watch,phone etc and then got dropped off in the middle of nowhere or got pushed down while the bus is in motion. The story didn't even add up abi?N1000 note s came into circulation in year 2006 whereas the era of Gov Mbadinuju was 1999-2001.Unless this is just another fairy tales but since u painted it as a real life experience, these errors are too huge to overlook.Maybe I'm just being hyper sensitive.
You are right you know. One chance is brazen robbery the op met swindlers like I did.

A friend of mine entered one chance and I disnt believe the face belonged to him when I went to see him in the HOSPITAL.

Ma dad called me,told me to come back to the house,i came back,he told me that someone informed him that i have been scammed,i didnt believe coz those men threatened me that am already rich, that no one should know abt wat happened within us and abt the money we are about to share,if i ever reveal it to someone, the marmaid that has the money will suddenly appear, hit my head and immediately i will fall on the ground and die,i was afraid to die,but my father told me to tell him what happened,i no gree talk,ma dad told me that as far as we have a convenant with God that devil cannot take away what God has in possession. Before i confess,i surrendered my life to Jesus for him to accept me in his kingdom, but wen i confess finish nothing happen, when my eye clear well na wen my popman call the man wey be the pastor for the 419men,ma dad called him a fraudster, telling him that he has met wahala, threatened him with the police, the fraudster tell ma dad say if him still get more money, say him go chop am the more,na wen i come know say na full scam dey run me. All the same i not fit fall maga again, what makes most people fall into the scam thing is greed.

I entered one chance on allen in 2005. There was a mad crowd at the bustop and an unpainted cab came by with the driver yelling Ikeja Ikeja.

Me feeling like a lag boy used speed to enter the front seat. When the cab got moving I realised it was still empty only me and one guy entered that's when I realised I don enter..

I felt light headed almost a swoon but I regained clarity. I just waited for the scam to begin. True to type we got to Allen round about and the guy at the back drops and pays the driver with a hundred dollar bill that he drops in my lap. I just waved the cash over without directly looking at it.

In my mind I be like God punish this bastards

The driver shows me the bill and says look oh.

I give him a blank stare.

He calls the other guy back and they begin the narrative. You know the usual

I a.m. from Liberia

Ok

I only have this currency

We only use naira here

Where can I get

Airport

I have a lot can I trust you

There's another person here who is neutral we can all go together

Here I contribute to the discussion

Ok I said. One word this guys are really dumb

We get to ikeja and as usual there's always traffic. I alight without another word while the driver is rambling about being a deacon and serving in his church bla bla bla.

Saved 50bucks that day. Free ride.
What did you tell them? Bro.

You are very lucky young man.

My own case was similar but with different dimension

I used to live in US and later relocated to UK. I thought it ll not be nice as a single guy to leave all my money at the mercy of my Bank which is GTB. I decided to make my mum signatory to my Account in case of death or any unforeseen circumstances.

However, i had about #5million + in my Ilesha branch Account and the money was on what GTB called Fixed deposit account(The Account has a particular name but couldn't remember).

On that fateful day, my mum was on her way to her Store and saw two drivers having serious argument over who stole what they(the two drivers) never lost. As a Christian, she decided to talk to these guys to settle their differences but unknown to her, that she was already in the hands of "One chancer".

That was how my mum got herself involved in something similar to yours. Eventually, she withdrew all my money batch by batch and gave all to these guys.

I only realised that there was no money in my GTB Account when i checked my online banking Account. I thought it was a mistake at the side of the Bank.

Mine happened in Asaba 2006, as a jjc then, I boarded one chaance from dla junction, but with God on my side and as a festac, lagos brought up guy, I escaped at ibuza junction..

The driver is always the spoke person, the money always belongs to a politician, there would always be cleasing and the last thing I noticed was that, your opinion or options don't count..

Na God save me sha ooo, thank greed no make them carry me go.. Then I was seeking admission, and now I am graduate, na Godwin ooo!!!

That's how one of our neighbors lost over #1.2m.

Our neighbor's eldest sister gave her a huge amount of money for the burial arrangement of their father.

Unfortunately for her, she was made.

The scene I witnessed was when she was crying bitterly. When asked, she said its because of her dead father.

Later on, we heard the full story behind her bitterness.

She later relocated to village, abandoning her shop in the main market.

I had the experience too! Some years back!

Same tactics as Op's but the guy claimed to be a househelp coming from the North and that he stole the money from his boss who died the previous day. Cried real tears while begging the driver not to report him. My instincts told me something wasn't right.... I kept quiet all through knowing my destination wasn't far and a straight busy route.

When I got to my destination, I came down but didn't pay. The driver insisted I paid but I was like "you don hammer now, wetin you need my #50 for? I walked away.

I knew he wouldn't dare come after me cos he would have gotten mob action if others knew he was "one chance"..

Walking to a business cybercafe at Rumuokwuta a stranger stopped me for directions to Deal Clinic, the guy started mixing his grammar with les francais and before I knew what was happening,a 3rd party was involved.

This 3rd guy succeeded in getting me to help this fake guy sayying he came into town new but was dumped by the white men who brought him here with some goods(elecctronics ad mobile phones).

We strolled into the streets, then to somebody's backyard. Here, the oath taking started;they asked if I have fyiokt a girl in her period recently, I said , 'tahhhh! No!'(Virgin like me, I never cheated on my soap)

Aha! The guy did that black paper turn to mint 500naira trick cheesy
This one sweet me like orgasm, the guy said this one is for me that there are others (I can't still understand y or know how he later took it from me )

Blahblahblah...the cockhead needed some cash to buy a powerful chemical from Mr Smith at Presidential Hotel so this is where they said we all shud arrange what we had. I ran home, broke my safe box. And counted 'one taAaarzan sevin hundred naira'(1,700)

I got back to them... They said its nt enough, if I no bring cash cos of the oath I will vomit blood and kpai. Thhe guy did one yeye incantation and told me to hold a broomstick he gave me in my mouth , it will make me invisble and I shd search everywhere at home.

Gehngehn! I got home, beans was ready but I told my sis I had no appetite. House was full that day, my adrenaline was working weller. I got to my papa's room door but it was locked. I thought of smashing the door like jack Bauer does but they will catch me and pin me down and I must surely vomit the blood. I remembered the broom stick, I placed it on my lips, walked thru the corridor. I thought I was really invisble, not until younger bro saw me and reminded me of his assignment I said, 'abeg wait first'.I climbed the narrow walls in the corridor, entered the ceiling and headed to the room, yeah...like MI2 cheesy

I got to the exact location of his wardrobe and I ccarefully bent the nails holding the ceiling slab, then I removed the ceiling and drropped in the room. CoooooL right?grin
I searched the whole roomjust as the socalled bloody spiritualist told me that the cash wil be in a portfolio. I opened the portfolio I saw but nah so so receipts I see.

I left the room, same way I entered...got back and told the maggotbrain that I saw no cash. He suggested I get from anywhere I see, shops, friends place or anywhere at all.

Final mission; I was in my friend's place and her mum is business woman, she surely use to keep her money in the room but my mind no reach that level abeg. I was imagining the disgrace. If been caught and the jungle justice things in that environment, so I hose to vomit that bood finally.

I got back to the scammers Den, I told them I saw bundles of cash but not collect it. Na so the priest wozz me slap(according to him, its a spiritual slap). Nah there I provoke! I left the place and never returned for three days. I had to go meet one of my friends in Rumuigbo(bladi cultist that year)I told him what they collected from me was my life savings plus my WAEC fees wch was 37k.

We went there at night to survey the place and mark them out. Oh yeah! The three guys were marked. I arrived the next day, meanwhile the guys I brought scattered in the environment, waiting for signal.

The scammers were glad to see me again. They quickly requested for their cash...and that's how they were ruggedly brutalized and taken to the council chairman , they were came all the way from Lagos oh! Kai! #smh!well, the Nigerian police swung into action from there.

I collected my 37k and I pocketed 27k
...The story didn't just end. I started looking out for ppl like them. From a distance once I see they have caught one mugu, I'd quickly cross the road and shout it loud that they are scammers, nah so the innocent person go dey thank me cheesy cheesy cheesy
In fact one man approached me to ask for direction, I told him, 'oga u dey mad!'

“See where greed landed you. You wanted to make quick money. You should thank God that they did not use you for money rituals.”

I have entered "one chance" bus once. It was in my secondary school days. My school teachers went on strike and all the students were asked to vacate from the school. I went to the park in search for a bus going to Onitsha where my parents live. I met one bus loading in the park with only two passengers seated. Due to impatience, I decided to stand along the Awka – Onitsha road to see if I could see any car that is already on its way to Onitsha.

After a little while, I saw a bus coming and the bus conductor was shouting “0nitsha one chance! Onitsha one chance!” I waved at it and shouted Onitsha. The driver of the bus which was almost full stopped for me to enter. I entered and the driver drove off. As we were approaching upper lweka, the driver said that there was a serious go slow in the front and he diverted to another road which he said would be better for us.

After the diversion, he drove for about 5 minutes and stopped. "Who get that big blue ‘Ghana must go’ bag in the boot?” the driver asked. One man responded "na my bag o”. The driver asked the man about the contents of the bag but the man refused to talk. The driver stopped the car and opened the boot. He unzipped the bag and shouted “Chineke mere mmadu ebe re o!” which when translated means “God have mercy on man“.

We asked the driver what the problem was but the driver asked us to come down and see for ourselves. We all came down to look. What l saw in the bag were bundles of 1000 naira notes packed in a big ‘Ghana must go’ bag. The driver said he would take the bag to the police. The man who claimed to be the owner began to beg the driver and said “I beg don’t take it to the police.” The man claimed that the money was given to him by a politician to share to people for their votes. It was that period Mbadinuju’s tenure was coming to an end and Chris Ngige was to take over as the governor of Anambra state. The man who claimed to be the owner of the bag of money asked the driver to share the money into 2 instead. The owner would take half of the money while the driver and the rest of us share the remaining half.

Oh my goodness! I was so excited. I began to thank God for this wonderful bus I entered. My share of the money would not be less than 100, 000 naira. The driver insisted that he would call the police but we begged the driver not to involve the police. Later, the driver agreed but said that we have to go somewhere to cleanse the money and also take oath. All of them agreed. I taught that they were all passengers like me but I don’t know that majority of them including the driver and the owner of the bag of money were all working together.

The driver drove us to a place that looked like shrine. He asked us all to come down from the bus and follow him into the shrine. I was scared but since other passenger were not afraid, l have to be brave. We went into the shrine which was an uncompleted building. One man dressed like a native doctor came out and asked “what can I do for you people? “ The driver told him that we have a bag of money that needed to be cleansed before shared and to take oath that no one among us would report this to the public or authority. The driver gave the bag of money to the native doctor. The native doctor began to do incantations and told us that the cleansing and oath would cost 120,000 naira. The driver asked the native doctor to take the 120,000 naira from the bag of money. But, the native doctor said it was an abomination to do so. Since we were about 12 in number, the driver asked us to contribute 10,000 naira each for the exercise.

Immediately, one market woman among us brought out the sum of 10,000 naira and gave the driver as her own contribution. One other woman there said she was the secretary of her church group. She said she has 10,000 naira belonging to the group and would go home and bring it. Other passengers made their promises. I wondered why it was an abomination to pay the native doctor from the money bag and the reason for the cleansing but I was not bold enough to ask the driver or the native doctor. All I had was 1000 naira so I promised to go and search my dad’s room and would surely bring the 10k. They seized my phone and asked me never to talk to anyone on the road nor tell anyone about this deal including my parents. “You will run mad if you tell anybody or if you fail to bring the money” the native doctor said. They told me that I was lucky to have this opportunity to be rich at my young age and should not mess up this opportunity. The driver wrote down a phone number on a paper and asked me to call the number when I get the 10k.
I rushed out and took a bike to Awada Onitsha where my parents live. Luckily, when I arrived home, my parents were not around. Only my junior brother was there. I gave him the 1000 naira note I have and asked him to buy 20 naira Omo detergent for me from mama Okechukwu’s shop. Mama Okechukwu’s shop was 5 buildings away from my home. And before they would get 980 naira change, I must have finished my mission.

As soon as my brother left, I began the “Guilder ultimate search.” I searched my dad’s wardrope, opened all his drawers and checked all his bags and pockets. I found no money. “Which kind poor man be this?” I asked myself. But he used to keep big amount of money in his wardrobe. I ransacked everywhere including my mum’s bags, wallets and baskets. I found no penny. I was frustrated. My junior brother came back with the detergent but said that Mama Okechukwu could not find change but we should come later to take the change. I asked him to send the detergent back and bring my 1000 naira for me. When he left, I then searched the entire house and found no money. Governor Mbadinuju was owing teachers six months’ salary. My parents were both teachers and it was a very difficult period for them.

When my brother returned, I took the money from him and went to a call center. I called that number the driver told me to call when I get the money and he picked. “You don get the money?” he asked. “I no see any money o” I replied. He asked me to go and borrow from somebody so that when we share the money, I would pay the person back. He asked me to get the money as quickly as possible before madness descends upon me. I was overwhelmed with fear. Who would lend me 10,000 naira? I asked and asked and asked. But no one agreed. Someone asked me what I wanted the money for. But I refused to tell. I don’t want to go crazy. Who would save me from this kind of situation? I cried. I decided to keep it to myself. There was nothing else I could do. I made up my mind. I did not call them on the phone again. The only thing I lost was my Motorola mobile phone which they seized. I had to lie to my parents that robbers stole my phone at gun point.
However, the trauma I had that period affected my WAEC studies. I was preparing to seat for my WAEC examination. I found it difficult to concentrate when I read. “You will run mad” kept echoing in my mind. The outcome was that I had three F9 including English and math, four P7 and two C6.

As one of the most intelligent students in my class, everyone including the teachers and students were surprised at my poor results. That was when I finally narrated the story to my parents. My dad said “see where greed landed you. You wanted to make quick money. You should thank God that they did not use you for money rituals.”
Since then, nobody, I repeat, nobody could entice me with material things again. The following year, I took another WAEC exam and cleared all the subjects. Today, I am a university graduate. I did not run mad and would never run mad.

I told them I wasn't interested and walked away feeling bad for the victim, till I was told it was a hoax. Heard d same story on my way from uromi to ekpoma, and I immediately asked them to drop me off on the highway.
