With the kind permission of the MODS, I hope this is the right section to post this.
I have observed silently that most times forumites have legal issues or challenges and do not seem to know what their legal remedies and or options are in most cases. Most times they post the issues here and the advise they're given are wide off the mark.
All would like to do is enlighten us as much as my time would permit on not too complicated legal challenges or burning issues you all may need clarifications on. Other colleagues are welcome to rub minds with me here as the idea is to learn from each others experiences.
If the MODs find this ok, then lets proceed. I am not available here 24/7 but be assured I would pop in here at least twice daily to see what issues are up for discussion. Thanks

Nice idea. Although i'm a law student, i'll try to contribute at times when i can. I believe this will avail Nairalanders the opportunity of having a in house lawyer for their minor legal issues.
P.S: If u want this thread to grow, you may need to look out for fellow learned silks. So u can copy them to come and grace this thread and drop their contributions. my two dinar.

Good day sir, with reference to my post

I have contacted a lawyer to send him a letter stating collection of money under false pretense and a bridge of agreement since i wasn't given access to the place when was stated in the agreement.

A petition will be sent to him on Monday. I will be glad to know your take on the matter. Thanks

I believe what your lawyer is sending to the Landlord is a Letter of Demand and not a "petition" like you called it. Its a good start as failure of the Landlord to accede to your lawyer's demand would result in either him petitioning the Police to investigate the fraud or a lawsuit to recover the money depending on what your lawyer deems is ok in the circumstance.
I hope you read the comments on your thread including very absurd suggestions that you use the DSS, Army, Civil Defence, Alfa and so on? I wouldn't comment further. Good luck
