The Need for A New Youth Lead Political Party by amazingspiderma: 12:43pm On Oct 20, 2015
I think the time has come for a new youth lead political party to be born in Nigeria.
I saw the pictures of the sacked immigration workers, where the lives of young people were toyed with like pawns on a chess board.
because of political differences, what an excuse.
I donot trust these people. Why should we trust current crop of politicians, when we have seen them mismanage pension fund in the past, hard working years of people.Mostly people within their age bracket, some are our parents. They gave their years to this nation yet there is nothing to show for it.
If the people who had better days as workers are finding life difficult, how about the current generation of youth who had no foundation at all,to start from.I cannot trust a man who robbed my father's wealth with mine. Some who took from my father cannot guarantee my security.

If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan? Jeremiah 12 v 6.
Those who have refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.
What will be the fate of the current youth of Nigeria who has found no job,no benefit and automatically no pension when they grow old? That is the time we are living in right now.The hand writing is all over the wall that the blind can even see it.
I seen no reason why we should not rise politically. No future,no jobs, and no security. We cannot afford to continue like this,it is unsustainable.
People talk about a messiah in Nigeria. For me, I don't beleive in one. There is no messiah, sometimes asking for a messiah is the perfect excuse of a coward. No one man can save a nation single handedly, not even the God-man Jesus, who had only 12 disciples(some scholars say over 70) at the end of his minstry made a massive change physically in his life time.
Why should our parents send young people to school with thier life savings and yet there is no job security. When most of today's same set of leaders were beneficiaries of state funds, they went to school for almost free. They were educated directly from the treasury.Yet look at what they allow us to go through after years of leadership, and still do not want to leave the treasury.
Someone has to put an end to all of this,it has to be us.
It has to be through a united political front,it has to be with our votes and most importantly with our own political party.
If we do it right,we will build a better society for ourselves, our loved ones and most importantly our generation unborn.
Some may say why now,why campaign after an election. My reply to those questions is that crop of politicians are not good enough. Not even the current head of state can take us there. It takes more than"integrity" to rule a Nation.
We gave them the votes in the first place, our parents as well.It was our votes that brought them to power and it is our votes that will take us to power. Most importantly planting should not be done in the harvest season. So is a movement of change,it starts with a wisper, then it grows to become a whirlwind.
We must must prepare for a political participation with an independent youth party that will shake this nation once and for all,for the best interest of everyone in Nigeria. We have people in their youth who can deliever on governance and ministerial positions.
We have a choice to make,we can choose to be pawns in this nation or the true leaders of Nigeria, from the council, wards, local governments, state governments, senate etc.
After all, most of the current set of people in power ruled this country in their 20s and 30s. Yet they see nothing wrong with the current issues facing the youth of today.
We cannot keep doing the same thing and expect a different result. We can't keep hoping for better from the same set of people who have made things bad.It is time to rise up,time to have an influence in the everyday decision of Nigeria.
If we do not learn from history then we will be condemed to repeat it.

The choice is yours.

Yes Men
After all, women according to nairaland, should be confined to the kitchen and bedroom. Because a career woman is not wife material.

God forbid, I beg a man for recharge card!

Today one senator asked a nominee "when u b come minister wat will u do to curb youth restlessness in nigeria" and I was so pissed! Whose fault is it that the youths are restless...besides it's our job to be restless...how we use our restlessness is wat makes the difference....@op I totally agree with u...I have been thinking in d same lines myself...instead of fighting and arguing for d current crop of leaders who obviously have only themselves and their families in mind...we youth put our effort and restlessness in forming a core youth Party. I know money is needed to win elections...but such a party should be strategic...shouldn't think of winning all states or assembly seats in one swoop...but start with constituencies having large population of tertiary students, win some seats...have a voice...I havent tot it through sha...but where there's a will there's a way.

Op you just raised an important question that I have been considering in the last few days. My idea is that of a real 21st century party, devoid of etnic division of whatsoever, all inclusive, technology driven, and prosperous Nigeria the only agenda. Can you please create a whatsapp page where we all shall congregate first. After sometime we can then talk of face-to-face meeting. These old men have been challenging our ingenuity for too long. Let's show them that while they are still alive that we can do great things for our country.

Cabal or no cabal we can make Nigeria better.
We have to chose either to live on our knees or die on our feet in this country.
All positive changes comes with a price.I want to fight for a great nation where my children's future are secure.

My brother, you are alone in this fight. No youth want to fight them, everybody want to join them. People are wise now, I'm a student of literature. Those that instigate and fight for a cause don't live to enjoy it.

I guess to you, enjoyment is when you live to benefit from the struggle and hard work of others. Well thats what makes a follower and a leader. Leaders enjoy working for others, followers enjoy being led and taken care of. Change your ideals to that of a leader and you'll see there's no pain in willing sacrifice for the benefit of others.

@Op, for quite sometimes now I have been thinking along that line of having a youth based party. though always in my imagination. Thank God somebody else is also thinking along that line. the truth is the current political dispensation doesn't encourage the youth, and the leaders want to maintain the status-quo.

I really would love it if the idea doesn't end on nairaland. I have some many ideas on how it can work so op if you are ready I am.

I totally against you base on the connection, those leaders make use of the Youths to carry out their evil perpetration during and after the election either civil or rough manners. Where then the connection goes to I revolution can sort things like dis out grin
