50-50 is a bad deal - It would only require a little upset in the system for the entire card to have a domino effect especially in an economy that is almost on a life support system.

These stupid banks will refuse to give you one month salary overdraft but you will hear stories of them giving people facilities running into millions of Naira. When they run into trouble they start looking up to the government to bail them out.

STORY STORY................ i hate Nigeria banks cos they always complain and give you rules on your money.

If this is the case, then banks are the main beneficiary of the policy. Why are they complaininghuh?
According to the story, they are owing foreign banks or lenders because they could not remit the sum. BUT THE MONEY IS WITH THEM NOT NIGERIA GOVT.
THEY HAVE THEIR LENDERS MONEY, DOING BUSINESS WITH THEIR LENDERS MONEY. WHY COMPLAIN WHEN THE LENDERS UNDERSTAND THE POLICY?.

As a financial institution, they should have other option of remittance arrangement with their foreign lenders if all the transactions are genuine; hence Nigeria is not on any sanction like Iran or North Korea.

It's fair, than no deal.

I understand your point, but I'm Optimistic about this. This disaster wouldn't favour anyone, so why would I wanna be a pessimist? undecided

There is always another way of doing things - Nigerians didn't vote him in for a half cooked deal.

Get it right or never even dream about that place - Why do we keep having accidental leaders with no clue on how to at least fix a problem up to 50% that is a pass mark my friend.

The sad part is, when they get there, that's when they know they cant perfom miracles. Despite all the promises.

Well, I'll say hopefully, there might be a positive change of story this time. 3 years to go!

The dullard is hell bent on plunging the economy into a recession.

where are all the critics of Ngozi Okonjo Iweala?

calling Soludo, Utomi, Oshiomhole, et al to come to our rescue

Begging Okonjo Iweala to come to our aid will finally be our last option when the dullard is true with us undecided
Not necessarily, PMB will have to leave this job to real Macro-economists, else we're heading for a cliff.

Soludo's actually good at this but I doubt they'll let him in.
The other person good at this will be Basil Enwegbara but they're both far from the geographically "upper pole" of the country and Soludo's Godfathered.
I did say it that outright banning of imports is too cosmetic unless accompanied with serious import substitution drive.
But neither the presidency nor the lawmakers are currently after the nation's interest.
They're still busy bickering over who gets what. One's forced to ask if their so-called screening/ interview can stop any of the nominee from clinching whatever portfolio the president has for them.

It's PDP and GEJ that should be blamed na.

Nigeria should not have anything less than US$100bn in our external reserves even with chopping in govt but what has happened is that all the years of oil boom didn't mean increased foreign reserves. They ate all the money, bought boats and real estate and jets everywhere. Now, there is no buffer for the economy in the event that a shock comes. Coupled with the price of oil in the global market and the promise of increased oil production globally in 2016 leading to a glut in the supply of oil, we are in for very tough times.

In short, what has happened is that we are eating once a day now so that should a famine comes, we will have something to feed on for some time. Don't blame Buhari. He has come to help.

If you like abuse me but I have just painted the easiest scenario for anybody to interpret easily.
Those who "ate all the money" are the 36 state governors who did not want the PRUDENCE recommended by Jonathan for our JOINT Federation account.

FG, States, LGs Share N568.4 Billion for Oct

Also, $1billion was proposed for distribution to complement shortfall in expected revenue." The $1billion is a compromise by the FG over its words in September not to augment shortfalls anymore.

Responding to the presentation, the chairman of the States Commissioners of Finance and Ebonyi State Commissioner of Finance, Mr Timothy Odaah, lamented that the statutory allocation was getting smaller and smaller. "It appears this is the worst in terms of returns. This is the least in allocations as far as this year is concerned. We are mourning the dearth of funds and this is a wakeup call for states and local governments to buoy up their internally generated revenue."

While appreciating the "magnanimity" of President Goodluck Jonathan to approve the $1billion from the excess crude account and to be shared among the federal, state and local governments, Odaah expressed disappointment with the returns made by the NNPC.

He said that the states had requested for $2bn to complement for the shortfall in revenue but got only $1billion. In September, Odaah and fellow commissioners had walked out of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) when the federal government said that the framework of the 2013 budget was no longer realistic and it won't augment shortfall in revenue. Odaah raised issues with the statutory allocations of previous months.

Yet Buhari gave BAILOUTS to these mofo governors after they squandered the ECA shared under Jonathan. Is this how the Dullard from Daura intends fighting corruption huh
