Actually, Rahman and Azpilicueta are not defensively minded. Remember that Azpilicueta is playing off his natural wing on the left. So his attacking instincts are reduced because he can not cross well with his left foot lkme his right.

Also, Mourinho plays with Wingbacks who defend a lot and utilises his midfield to support his attack. If you have three defensive midfielders, One can move forward to help the attack. He will play more like central midfielder but he has to help the defence a lot. Ramirez and Willian can do this well.

Rahman and Azpilicueta will help the attack instead of the midfield. The first thing Chelsea has to do is to stop leaking goals.

It is not boring football but let the attacking come from the wings instead of the midfield which leaves the defence in a lot of pressure. Wing backs are naturally trained to overlap and track back.

Are you saying when Pellegrini plays Yaya, Fernando and Fernandinho in midfield Man City are playing boring football?

Zabaletta and Kolarov do the attacking in those games while Fernando and Fernandinho help the defence more. Yaya does the bombarding forward.

Mourinho likes players doing the all round work of defending and attacking and it is costing him badly. He dropped Mata and De Bruyne because they could not contribute much defensively. He dropped Mikel because he could not contribute much offensively.

Mourinho's philosophy of the game is taking massive blows. Why does he not give Remy more chances than Falcao.
