The only drawback is the fact that calls become very unclear when data connection is unstable. Making VOIP calls with Airtel data or Glo (in locations with poor network) will be extremely annoying. I've never really enjoyed WhatsApp calls for this same reason.

VOIP calls are much cheaper and clearer than conventional calls. Try Viber or Google Hangout for much clearer and compressed call volumes.

Cheaper but not clearer. I normally use voip first then change to normal calls when the other party can't hear me properly. I've used almost all the voip apps in google store.
Voip calls are definitely not clearer.

Whatsapp calls are crappy and are almost like sharing voice notes. I prefer Imo messenger..

all y'all saying the connection is not clear need to change ur data provider. I use spectranet 25GB data plan and I have never had a poor call. Crystal clear. I even wish there was video calls self.

The calls is cheap but not clear enough for smooth communication.

The connection might be bad if you didn't tick this...
You can see from the initial picture, the times I redialed, and time of the day the calls were made.

I've had various reasons to make calls across various countries recently, I noticed that I had been recharging very large sums just to make calls.
I don't know what prompted me to try a WhatsApp call, but I did, and I cannot regret it.
I made a call to the UK for an important discussion and guess how much mb if took for a call of almost an hour? 13mb.

So, technically, it is much more beneficial to subscribe for data, than to make an international call directly. This is wonderful. Thank you WhatsApp!
