I've had various reasons to make calls across various countries recently, I noticed that I had been recharging very large sums just to make calls.
I don't know what prompted me to try a WhatsApp call, but I did, and I cannot regret it.
I made a call to the UK for an important discussion and guess how much mb if took for a call of almost an hour? 13mb.

So, technically, it is much more beneficial to subscribe for data, than to make an international call directly. This is wonderful. Thank you WhatsApp!

Cheaper but not clearer. I normally use voip first then change to normal calls when the other party can't hear me properly. I've used almost all the voip apps in google store.
Voip calls are definitely not clearer.

But the watsap call I used to make usually breaks, it's not as smooth as normal call, when I talk, it's after like 1-2 minutes that I will hear reply of what have said from my recipient, when iv already said many other words, so I will get to wait for her n to listen to all iv said for like 2monyhs before he'll reply which may take like 1min to reach me too. What about you, is it same experience? Pls help!

Go to your chats and call settings, tick the box for data optimization, that will help. I made calls both with 3g and edge. I think we underestimate these things.

It's not true that whatsapp calls are cheaper.

It depends on how much you pay for your calls.

Here is a simple analysis based on the whatsapp call analysis picture;

A whatsapp call for 4.18 minutes at the standard cost of 5kobo per kb and a gsm call at 11 naira per minute:

4.18 minutes × 11 naira
=45.98 naira

983 kb × 0.05 naira
=49.15 naira

A whatsapp call for 16.39 minutes at the standard cost of 5kobo per kb and a gsm call at 11 naira per minute:

16.39 minutes ×11naira
=180.29 naira

3,800kb × 0.05 naira
=190 naira

A whatsapp call for 58.53 minutes at the standard cost of 5kobo per kb and a gsm call at 11 naira per minute:

58.53 minutes ×11naira
=643.83 naira

13,200kb × 0.05 naira
=660 naira

On the basis of the above you can decide on which is cheaper

The advice should be properly channelled before people in Nigeria calling others in Nigeria will begin to think its also cheaper for them..
